Is your wife standing over your shoulder? Is she the good influence or the bad influence? Or is she just the Great Gazoo?

No, my suggestion was completely hypothetical.

      • At least the utes didnt hire Frank Haith after almost hitting a home run.

Heck, Frank Haith is probably a worse hire overall. He could never get anything done at Miami.

          • Typically how long does it take for a new coach to announce his staff?

Why even say you're going to go after established coaches if that's all you're offering? That's like saying I want a new BMW for $1,500. Laughable.
950k per? Wow. I initially though 950k total, which seemed like a bargain. But a cool million as a base salary for this guy? Ouch. How much do assistant coaches in the NBA make?

according to, I think, the KSL article, it what 950K, including all compensation, including the under armor contract, etc, etc.

That is what the DesNews is saying

New Jersey Nets assistant Larry Krystkowiak signed a five-year contract late Saturday night to become the new head coach of the Utes.

The deal, which includes Krystkowiak's base salary, radio and television appearances, plus an Under Armour agreement, will pay $950,000 per year.

I may be small, but I'm slow.

                    • Hill said in a radio interview this morning that Utah hasn’t borrowed any money from the PAC-12 against future TV revenue yet, and don’t expect to. So the rumor that the U. is using that money to pay off Giacoletti and Boylen appears to be false.

                      • One thing about Kyrstkowiak is he should have some great connections for all that talent coming out of Montana.

                        • I've slept on this news for a couple nights now. I simply have to tell the Utes on the board that I feel really good about this hire.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

LA, just tell BYU fans to

It's so lame for BYU fans to crack on the U for any short term cash flow issues (if there really even are any). The U nearly just doubled its athletic budget. The money will come rolling in soon enough.

Cash flow due to conference change smack has to be the worst all time smack of all.

What about cash flow due to repeatedly inept hiring by the athletic director smack? where does that rank?

I actually do feel good about it. He seems very solid to me. Time will tell, just as it has with former Dixie College head coach Dave Rose.
