Yeah, this simple question-simple answer approach isn't working. How about this--when Utah hires Dave Rose away from BYU in the spring, you point me back to this thread and rub it in my face that Rose understood whatever you were trying to say about ceilings, even though nobody else did.

That is true but you still need to get the top talent in the area in which you live and then get better talent out of state. Unfortunately Boylen has done neither. Boylen simply has not been able to bring in any talent worth a damn since he has been coach with the loan exception of the kid that played last year and then bailed to Texas Tech after punching Jackson Emery.Originally posted by Top Ute View PostNeither BYU nor Utah has truly had any great teams without star players from out-of-state. You can win with top Utah talent, but you're not going any further than what Stew has done at USU. To get into the NCAA Tournament and win consistently, you need stud players from out-of-state.
If you took the top 10 players from BYU and Utah, respectively, over the last 40 years, the vast majority are going to come from out of state.

You won't find any disagreement here. Except over the part of Henderson punching Emery. He swung at him, but I heard Tom Cruise called up BYU and wanted some acting lessons from Emery.Originally posted by A-Train View PostThat is true but you still need to get the top talent in the area in which you live and then get better talent out of state. Going to 68 teams eliminated the "play-in" game. Now we have four "play-in" games.Originally posted by Katy Lied View PostMaybe if the WAC crumbles we can get rid of the play-in game.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."
