  • I'm so bummed by Abouo. I've been high on him for a long time, but he's just awful right now. He was taking over Haws' position the last 10 games of last year, had another good offseason with his Ivory Coast team, by all accounts was ready to be a star. At the blue-white game he showed leadership and was the second best player on the floor to Jimmer. Then he's got straight downhill. He acts like he's never had a basketball in his hands on offense. wth...seriously.

I think his confidence is in the shitter. I was watching him shoot Js in pregame and he was stroking it but it was not the same shot he shoots in games. Also, he seems scared of being blocked to the point of complete debilitation. He adjusts shots he should take hard. I wonder how much of his problem is that he missed a few shots early or is worn out from playing too much in the off season. I truly think the skills are there but the ability to capitalize on them is lacking.

All of that aside, his D is legit. He can guard on any level.

Today I purchased tickets. I now have seats for all remaining home games.

And I agree with Jeff Lebowski. The Wyoming game, a routine clock cleaning, will be Senior Night and Jimmers swan song. I expect nothing less than a several minute ovation for the guy and I want to be a part of that. Expect sellouts to some or all of these remaining games.

I bought eight tickets to the UNLV, Utah, and Wyoming games today. Jimmer walked in for practice while I was there and said hi to my star struck little boy as he passed. He got more brave when Noah came in and said Hi Noah. I hope to sell half the tickets to make profit to cover the others. I'll give the CUF discount. 5% discount off my price of $50 each for the nose bleeds.

FYI on the season Jimmer is scoring 30% of BYUs points and yet BYU is 20-1 and a top 10 team. Will Clyburn is scoring 27.7% of Utahs points yet Utah is 10-10 and a really shitty team.

Amazing what that extra 2.3% gets you.

Thank goodness he can't put the team on his shoulders like that. I was impressed.

                    • In this last week, 5 teams ahead of or tied with BYU in the polls have lost games, and the teams that haven't lost still have games to play, either today or tomorrow.

#2 Pitt lost to #14/15 Notre Dame (still has Rutgers to play today)
#4 SDSU lost to #9 BYU (plays Wyoming today)
#5 UConn lost to #19/23 Louisville (plays again Wednesday)
#7/8 Villanova lost to Providence and #20/21 Georgetown (plays Marquette Wednesday)
#10/9 Syracuse lost (bad) to Seton Hall (plays Marquette today)

The following teams have another game to play today or tomorrow:

#1 tOSU plays at Northwestern today
#3 Duke plays St. Johns tomorrow
#6 Kansas plays at home against Kansas State today
#8/7 Texas plays at home against Mizzou today

If all the teams that haven't lost this week and have yet to play today win their games, my guess is that come Monday, BYU is ranked 5 or 6. A loss by any of the four teams above (with the exception of maybe tOSU) would improve the Cougars position (assuming a BYU win this afternoon @NM) even more. I like where we sit.

Apparently America is buying Jimmer and SDSU as legit.

The discussion on the selection committee watching games and taking notes on what kinds of defenses and offenses teams run is a little disturbing.

                                Why, Jay?

Do you think BYU's zone is a disadvantage when it comes to seeding? Or do you think there is an intent to match strength against weakness in such a way that disadvantages BYU (or any other team for that matter)? Just curious.
                                Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."
