You mingle with too many strands of the inner circle to make me question your .02 on this, but why on earth would Chris Hill not at least give Dave Rose a courtesy call on this matter? If you knew you could get Tyler Haws out of the deal, you'd fire Boylen today.

Listen up, MVC guy. Utah is going to have to do better than Tyler Haws to compete in the PAC 12. Tyler Haws would maybe get them out of 12th place. Damarcus Harrison-level is the new minimum.

Two interesting things to note for Ute basketball today:

The Pac 12 released its 2011-2012 hoops schedule today. Utah opens up @Colorado. Will Jim Boylen be around to give Carlon Brown a hug and a high five?

Someone on utefans posted that Phil Cullen is an assistant at Grand Canyon, Utah's opponent on Friday. Kind of cool.

I have a good feeling about this team. It's just a feeling though. Hey, it feels like old times! Basketball welcome respit from getting the shit kicked out of me in football. I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts.

I'm intrigued by Clyburn. I'm starting to like Watkins, it's taken me a whole year to warm to him, but I like what he is saying and doing.

I think Tyler Haws is a prize, but let's see how he survives balut for two years.

And Rose would be the ultimate recruit for Utah Basketball. I'm appalled at how long he had to languish in the asst coach ranks. One of the best things Steve Cleve ever did was leave unexpectedly, so BYU couldn't really conduct a national search, and had to go with someone they already had.

I'm going to start looking at the positives today. For example, Jace Tavita only played 14 minutes yesterday and didn't start.

J.J. O'Brien has some real polish for a freshman, like Haws, I understand. I like the balance on this team in terms of skill set. This is a very big team with potentially a big scorer in Clyburn, and--please, God--maybe a good pont guard. Washburn is supposed to have a lot of potential; if so, this is when it should materialize. Foster is one of these guys who could by himself make a defense respectable. We'll see.

As someone who only recently returned to the greater Utah area, I'm trying to figure out the TV schedule. Am I to understand that I can't get a game on TV until late December?

(I don't get the Big-10 network so the Michigan game on 12-10 is out)

I believe the Bradley game is on TV, but I don't know where on the schedule that game falls. The MTN kind of falls short when it comes to early hoops coverage.

90-75 win over weber st. Wilburn had 27 and 9 boards. I would like to see how we can do against stiffer competition, but we were losing games like this one at home last year. Baby steps.
