Conversely my favorite Nashif moment was a preseason game against the Tarheels when he was unable to get the ball into front court on 3 straight possessions. Jace was a nice guy and not a bad defender, but he was beyond terrible offensively. He kind of knew it though...as he rarely shot the ball. But, I am not kidding here, every single time he took a shot, there was an audible collective groan by the fans in the Huntsman.
Seriously, how does a guy average 16 minutes a game, yet average about 1 point a game? That is unbelievable. He averaged a shot about every 8 minutes on the court.
My all time favorite box score line from him was the following against TCU last year and it shows how little he contributed even with big minutes:
28 minutes
4 points (one of his 5 highest scoring games last year)
1 assists
1 rebound
2 Turnovers
He was held scoreless in 17 games last year and each one of those games, he played more than 12 minutes. That is mind boggling.
To take this a bit further, he averaged about 20 minutes a game last year, and he scored above 5 points exactly 1 time. Yes, you read that right. He averaged playing half a game, on a bad team and his high scoring game was 6 points last year.Last edited by UteStar; 12-02-2010, 03:11 PM.Comment

Surfah, you miserable vomitous mass, I hate to break it to you but virtually no one here is a fan of Boylen the basketball coach or is happy about the current state of Utah hoops. (Lots of us are fans of Boylen the man.) So banging on his coaching ability or on our hoops program, which we know is down, is not really the way to get to us. I also found this interesting. He shot a total, a grand total, of 13 free throws last year. 13. That is a free throw every other game for a guy that was playing around 20 minutes a game.
Now, I actually think Jace is a good guy and a good teammate. He just should not have been getting those minutes last year nor should he be getting those minutes this year and it appears that Boylen finally agreed.Comment
