BYU finally offers Peyton Dastrup!!!
and 3 others: http://byucougars.blogs.deseretnews....our-prospects/
Here is my analysis. The Luke Worthington offer worries me a bit. It leads me to believe that BYU is no longer the leader they were with Jabari Parker. I am sure SU will agree with me but Jabari Parker is probably the only player BYU is recruiting that is likely really any good. Regardless, if you follow recruiting this is what it looks like for the next two years:
2013 Class:
Nick Emery - Committed
Braiden Shaw - Committed
Jaykob Hartsock - Committed
Eric Mika - Committed
Jabari Parker - Offered
Luke Worthington - Offered
My understanding is that Nick Emery could be a sign and send. Braiden Shaw and Jaykob Hartsock are planned to be sign and sends. I think BYU plans Eric Mika to play a year and then go on a mission. Nobody knows what Jabari is planning and today is the first I have heard of Luke Worthington.
2014 Class:
Tyler Haws - Committed
Peyton Dastrup - Offered
Brekkot Chapman - Offered
Dalton Nixon - Offered
Word is Brekkot Chapman is not planning to serve a mission. Dastrup will likely play a year and then serve and the other two are likely sign and send.
It could get real interesting as if BYU signs all these folks they have offered, including Jabari Parker, it is possible that BYU could have 7 future players on missions during the 2013-2014 season. Those 7 being Demarcus Harrison, Luke Worthington, Jordan Chatman, Isaac Nelson, Braiden Shaw, Jaykob Hartsock, and Cory Calverty. The next year they would have Braiden Shaw, Jaykob Hartsock, Cory Calvert, Luke Worthington, Nick Emery, Eric Mika, Tyler Haws and Dalton Nixon on missions. That is 8 players on missions.
That is a lot of RMs as future players. Now my guess is not all of these kids will sign with BYU but my guess is BYU has a real good chance with every one of them save Jabari Parker, who I did not include in my mission calculations.
