Their class next year isn't strong. They got a 7-footer coming in but he's not highly regarded.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostI tend to agree, but it will be interesting to see who Gonzaga trots out there in terms of freshmen who get minutes."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

That was fun. Beat the two-time defending Cali state champs by 35 points.Originally posted by fbguru View PostAnother blowout. That's good!
Toolson was a surprise. 6-6 on three pointers."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

They really need to get Dastrup. Adding him to this year's group and add Haws next year would just give them a load of talent these last two recruiting classes. It's just a bummer that their playing careers will be so staggered because of missions.Originally posted by frank ryan View PostI don't think BYU will land Brekket Chapman but I think they have a solid shot at Dastrup.
Surfah, Napper, anyone, do you know who byu is after with that last scholarship? That Sal guy from slcc?So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

I think BYU has two available scholies for next year:Originally posted by frank ryan View PostI don't think BYU will land Brekket Chapman but I think they have a solid shot at Dastrup.

1.) Carlino
2.) Winder
3.) Collinsworth
4.) Haws
5.) Delgado
6.) Sharp
7.) Austin
8.) Harward
9.) Mika
10.) Worthington
11.) Ambrosino
That leaves two more and I have no idea who BYU is recruiting. I hope Sai and I got to think they would have a good shot. He is a good player at a JC but not a superstar and clearly Michigan didn't think he was good enough to be on scholarship. He is a very good student who values education and I think is Indian. I would think BYU would appeal to him and I think he would be a quality reserve for BYU. But I have no idea if BYU is recruiting him and whether or not he is interested in BYU.Do Your Damnedest In An Ostentatious Manner All The Time!

This would likely be speculation on anyone's part and I know Rose doesn't love doing this but is anyone in jeopardy of losing their scholarship next year?"Either evolution or intelligent design can account for the athlete, but neither can account for the sports fan." - Robert Brault

I would be surprised if that happened next year. The only one who I think is a good candidate is Ambrosino. I don't think Rose pulls scholarships often. If he does I think it will usually be an LDS kid that has been there for a couple of years like perhaps Anderson, who I don't think Rose pulled it from, or Martineau. Perhaps like Harward in another year or two. But I don't see many scenarios where Ambrosino is going to play much next year and with him not being LDS, perhaps he will transfer to play at a lower level division or program with hopes he might see the court more. But given that he will be out of the program in another year my guess is he stays and graduates and rides the pine. I expect nobody else to leave either.Originally posted by Blueintheface View PostThis would likely be speculation on anyone's part and I know Rose doesn't love doing this but is anyone in jeopardy of losing their scholarship next year?Do Your Damnedest In An Ostentatious Manner All The Time!

Those were the names I thought of (Harward/Ambrosino). It's tough for any coach but I agree Rose will probably just choose to not play them and let the cards fall where they may.Originally posted by Goatnapper'96 View PostI would be surprised if that happened next year. I knew coming into last season that Harward and Austin's games were very different but I had no idea that meant Austin was a guard and Harward a tax accountant. I'm most disappointed in Harward's apparent lack of basketball skills though. I was lead to believe from a local that he would be a decent contributor. Ambrosino wasn't supposed to be the second coming of anyone in particular so that's a marginal disappointment but it does mean a scholarship is taken. Talent evaluation is difficult so it's often a crapshoot. I think Austin and Harward can both be contributors in time. Harward less likely than Austin. However, if one of these role players (i.e. Austin, Sharp, Winder, Delgado) could develop into a player capable of scoring double digits if ignored, similar to Hartsock as a sophmore, it would be huge for BYU next year. We shall see. It just feels like BYU has a glut of kids that don't cause heartburn when they get on the court but they also never score much and the team isn't real great. My guess is BYU will have two really good perimeter star capable players next year in Carlino and Haws. I really like Collinsworth as an athletic defender and somebody who can get points in the paint through driving and offensive rebounds. I am hopeful Mika can score being athletic enough to run the court and some offensive game, even if his post up game is lacking. After that BYU needs one more kid to demonstrate some ability to score. Austin strikes me as the most likely/capable but still concerned he can get there. I do think all of the players I forsee contributing next year have some good things they all individually bring, but one of them needs to bring the ability to get into double digit points in 50% of the games.Originally posted by Blueintheface View PostThose were the names I thought of (Harward/Ambrosino).
