I hope Jackson enjoys his time at Duke as much as Jabari did, including a first round exit from the Big Dance.

Of course, I hope this for Duke every year.

I'll be surprised if I watch any of his games. I don't watch much outside of BYU until tourney time.

My annual hope for Duke is that they miss the tournament entirely.

I think the recruiting has gotten a little better in football over the last couple of years. Just look a how many freshmen are on the two-deep as evidence of that. It just takes time for it to filter through. But I think there were several years there where the recruiting really took a hit. Even Rose had that problem during the Jimmer years, which is why we took a step back just as we joined the WCC. But then his recruiting really kicked into high gear since 2013. Because of missions we're finally going to reap the benefits.

Maybe. Basketball is more likely to be affected by that because of the smaller number of players.

BYU71 probably didn't see his dad's tweet where he agreed with a stupid yewt fan who said BYU wasn't worthy of his son. And that alone wasn't all of it. He did that only a few weeks after a Des News story where the Jacksons were quoted as saying that the BYU offer was an answer to their prayers. So you put it out there one way, to only a few weeks later agreeing with a stupid yewt on the internet that you now think BYU isn't good enough for you. Then you bring politics into into it by having the de-commitment happen just after the election. So mixed with people's passions about sports, I don't think it's that hard to understand why some might find his dad's actions to be a little annoying. That said, we're talking sports hate and not real animosity, IMO, and none of this makes them bad people. But it does explain why to fans this situation looks a little different than just another athlete picking a different school.

Exactly. All those antics, politics, and fake Mormon B.S. Drawing near to BYU with their lips while their hearts were far from ("answer to their prayers." I hadn't heard that one, but it is right in character ) and then taking a steamy twitter shit on BYU without missing a beat (oh but don't forget Dad is an elected public official, so let's put Utah and BYU in the final four choices even though everybody knows Utah had nothing to do with where Frank would have ever gone. ). In contrast, Jabari's parents and Jabari himself are as real as it gets. He never played that game. He came for a visit, but never fronted or played to the crowd even though he could have played BYU fans like a fiddle.

I'm sure Franklin himself is a good kid and it sincerely doesn't matter on about any level what kind of chatter we BYU fans put out in the ether, but from a "sports hate" and political perspective, the Jacksons as a public entity can S a D.

Always a possibility, perhaps even likely for FJ!

I always like watching local kids playing in college - other than if they play for the utes who are simply unwatchable. I feel the same about Jackson as I do Jesse Wade. I'll watch whenever possible and root for them to do well whenever they are playing against anybody other than BYU.
