When every team does it, it's not bad luck. It's bad defense.

We desperately need someone (anyone!) besides the Big 3 to consistently put the ball in the basket when given open shots.

Edit: also flame away but I still kind of hate our offense. I know you have to let the best player in the country go to work. But do we have to have our 6'-1" immensely talented PG challenging one of the biggest lineups in CBB and getting blocked over and over again instead of finding some open people? Maybe this is a function of my note above that no one is trusted to make open shots outside of Ritchie so the passes just aren't made most of the time.
Bump. I still hate our offense. More every game. I said I hated it when I watched the opener in Vegas but trusted KY to put all these star pieces together in an offense that works. Well here we are deep in the season. We play very well against lesser competition. But agains elite teams our offense consists of 4 guys watching rob or AJ try to score without passing....and every once in a while running a screen for Richie.

                • This stink in the first half and then get just close enough in the second half to get fans’ hope back before losing is not a fun viewing experience. UConn, Arizona, Kansas.

With Peterson playing, those could very well be the three best teams in the country. Definitely two of the three. Yes, still hard to take.

                    • The Sleepers recap of the Kansas game articulated my current frustrations pretty well. I still hold out hope KY can make mid-season adjustments like last year to put the season in another gear. The problem is last year he did it largely with personnel and we dont have the number of bodies to work with this year. Losing Dawson combined with Davis being a bust is a brutal combination.

I'd like to see more Mboup and less Davis. I'd also like to see if Diamonde can be an upgrade.

Edit: But yes, there are systemic issues with the team that a mere change in players' minutes will not cure.

                        • Diamonde's lack of playing time confounds me. He had flashes of goodness in the early season and then disappeared. I trust KY, so I'm sure there's a good reason, but I wonder about the lack of playing time regularly. Maybe he can't play defense.

Yes, my thoughts exactly. Last year we had way more 3 point threats of the bench. Dawson; Knell was an assassin. I expected Davis to be better from 3.

In his limited minutes, it's seemed to me that his defense is pretty far ahead of his offense.
