This was kind of inevitable. The amount of Shadenfreude BYU fans engaged in over the last 8 months was bound to blow up in our faces a little. Can Kevin Young coach basketball? I’m not saying he can’t, but this team definitely bought into the hype. They have their work cut out for them to make the tournament at this rate. Lots of season left, but it’s going to be a grind.

Eerily reminiscent of when Bronco left and people immediately began singing Christmas Carols about Sitake and Detmer coming to town. Only to go on and have our worst football season since the Crowton era.

Last years team was playing at much higher efficiency from the beginning. With most of them having played together for a long time and the pre season European trip, Pope had them closer to their peak from the start. But they wore down and couldn't beat an athletic team in the ncaa tournament who had a season of film on them. This team has a much higher ceiling and more depth. They wll get there. The next half dozen opponents are good but not as good as Texas Tech who we still would have beaten by just making one three and like 3 more free throws.

oh, and Utah will still suck. All schadenfreude there is still in order.

After the two losses in football, many were down on the football team and expectations for basketball were through the roof. Things have changed. Last night was ugly, but the potential is still there and watching how the team develops will be interesting. TT's free throw defense was awesome, btw.

Experts, what's the biggest difference between this team and last year's? I feel like this team doesn't have a go-to scorer when they need a bucket, the Jaxson Robinson role last year. Against lesser competition Fous seemed to be the guy this year but teams have figured out how to take that away or reduce it. When they do we're reduced to Knell being the only guy who can consistently get a bucket in crunch time.

Demen and Hall cannot be on the floor at the same time. They both require the ball to be effective. We were at our worst when they were playing together. Demen needs to be with the starters, and Hall needs to come in when Demen is resting. That will be our best ball.
