Funny how these things go. If you had told me in May 2021 that Caleb would end his college career at Utah, I'd have been pretty upset. Three years later, not so much.

Hope he enjoys his time up on the hill, finds a nice Mormon girl, and loses every game he plays.

Isaac's dad finally speaks on CB:

"We are grateful for BYU Basketball and their recruitment of Isaac. New coaches have new systems and that often means difficult choices. Coach Young, Nate Austin, and Brian Santiago have been great. Isaac’s first choice was always BYU, but he would not have fit. BYU would have honored his scholarship but he will grow more at USU where they have a system better suited to his strengths.

Best of luck Coach Young and BYU!"

            Hmmmmmmm.
            Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

That sucks. What about BYU's new coache's and style was not going to fit with him?

Has anyone seen any non-byu sourced evidence that Chaz Lanier is actually considering BYU? That would be an amazing pick up but everything I read says it's between Tenn and UK. I haven't even seen BYU mentioned in an article.

“North Florida’s Chaz Lanier — who’s not a big-time name, but he’s being sought-after by big schools and it’s looking like that might be Kentucky. And if it’s not Kentucky, it’s Tennessee. And if it’s not Tennessee, it might be BYU,”

No clue. In my experience there is often much more to stories and likely much more that most of us will never know.

It is a new age in college sports. Teams that are able to consistently keep their players and build continuity will have huge advantages. To me that is an area BYU ought to be able to compensate for some recruiting disadvantages. I would think that a big part of continuity is keeping a base of "BYU" guys. Nobody should be naive - the experiences with Hall and Saunders ought to let us know that even those who are firmly ensconced in the "BYU guy" kingdom will wander beyond the mote to see what is out there-but it is my totally uninformed opinion that being "BYU guys" was part of why those 2 returned back to BYU. I would think Isaac Davis showed that type of tendency.

I don't know if style of play is a cover but I do think that if Coach KY believes he can consistently recruit and keep a roster year to year full of players of the quality and capacity to make Isaac Davis expendable- I worry he might be woefully surprised.

He should choose BYU just to let Pope know that it can go both ways

This is really good. We still need another 6'10+ center, but this is very good.
