A really nice game so far for BYU. This is the best Mag has shown all season, and Knell has kept it going from last game.

BYU beats Wyoming 68-49 behind some very solid defense. The offensive shooting numbers were good, but our points were a little on the low side. Most of our players' PER and GSc numbers were quite low despite the 19 point win. There weren't a lot of assists, steals, or blocks. But we played good solid defense. Man defense for most of the game. I hope Richie's ok. We don't need any injuries as we head into conference play (after one final OOC game).
Mag Mawot was the beneficiary of Saunders get knocked out early on and he made the most of his minutes, getting his first Player of the Game. He's known as a defensive specialist, but he also led BYU with the best TS%, so that was quite the awesome bonus! I will say that previously I was not real impressed with his defense. He had looked nervous or anxious in his previous few minutes. But tonight, he was doing all of the little things right on defense. I was very impressed. GSc agreed that he was our best player.
Mihailo Boskovic gets the Struggled to Peform, for the second time. He only had 1 TO and he didn't exactly play horrible, but he also just did add much that was positive to the game in his 16 minutes. For someone with his international experience, he's been a bit disappointing so far. Hopefully after a full season and off-season, he takes a huge leap next season. Keita gets the lowest GSc. He wasn't involved much offensively and didn't really do much defensively (stat wise) either. Hall had the worst TS% shooting 1/6 from the field. At least he made both of his FTs. He had a good amount of assists, but too many TOs.
Our top 3 Ave PER for the season are now Demin/Traore/Keita. Saunders drops down as he had a bad Fresno St game and he only played 1 minute against Wyoming.
BYU is now 8-2 and #43 in Kenpom and was #55 in NET coming into the game. Wyoming is now #201 in Kenpom and was #191 in NET. As a neutral site game, as soon as Wyoming slips to #201, it becomes a Q4 win. Up next is Florida A&M who is 3-5 and #347 in Kenpom and #302 in NET.

Delta Center is always fun. However, I about died of boredom waiting for the first half to end. It seemed like it took us seven minutes to score five points.

A really nice scoring performance by Catchings. Fous filled the stat sheet, and Knell was the steadying senior presence at the beginning of the game.
A lot to like about how Crawford is coming along, and Brody K. Put up some nice shots, too. FAMU is a dog, but they almost doubled them up.
