Mike Loyd leaving BYU?

I come from a law enforcement family so the cynicism gets to me.

I know Jay Drew has a job to do, but I wish that he could have kept this stuff to himself, at least until Mike found a new school to attend. Look, the kid's not getting paid to play and he already has been dismissed from the team and the school (which he apparently wanted to stay at). I don't see the need to put him through anything more.

I understand that Lloyd is a public figure, at least as far as the BYU basketball team goes, but he's not compensated like one, or at least his "wages" are artificially deflated in relation to the revenue he generates for others. I think he has paid the price for what happened and I wish Drew would have at least held the story until Lloyd found a new home.

On a side note, I really like how Rose has handled the whole situation. He seems to be a stand up guy, and while it would have been easier for him to make public things about Mike that would deflect criticism from him and the team, he chose to protect him instead. Good on him.

Meanwhile, the Tribune is practically broke, Drew has a family to feed, and tens of thousands of BYU fans are wondering what the hell is going on. If Drew sits on it, he's soon scooped. You are not beind realistic.

Yet another example of being dumb enough to carry your pot in your car. Keep that stuff at home, the police are never going to be searching your house. But cars get searched all the time.

Come on guys. When athletes commit crimes it is always news regardless of whether they are still in school or not. Lloyd did this to himself. I would find it much more odd if Drew had decided to sit on that information.

With BYU's history of mistreating African Americans and continuing alienation of them BYU will never be much of a basketball school. Basketball is an urban game.
