Wouldn't you agree? If his players are rejecting him and other potential recruits are choosing inferior programs wouldn't that evidence take precedence over a title from last year?
Of course things could get worse. Firing the coach now would send an even bigger signal that the program is in disarray. And what coach would want a job where the precedents are more than clear that when trouble comes the administration will drop you like a hot potato? Meanwhile, potential recruits, especially local recruits, are wondering how long the latest guy in the hot seat is going to get before he, too, is shown the door.

There was a discussion earlier today at UF.N about whether Mark Few or a Seattle-area columnist blamed the firing of Giacoletti on Utah fans. Something about it being a really, really dumb thing to do to fire a coach 2 years removed from the Sweet 16. The problem with this criticism is that Giacoletti had clearly quit on his team, and his team had quit on him. You can't keep a coach who quits like that.

Now, Boylen is not 2 years removed from even a 2nd round appearance. But he is one year removed from a conference title. And unlike Giacoletti, Boylen hasn't quit. He's had a bad season, one player was a bust (Reed), another didn't work hard and didn't get off the bench (Cyphers), and one player was a cancer (Brown). So it's really only two players (Hines & Henderson) -- assuming one of them doesn't change his mind -- that have rejected Boylen.

I heard on the radio on the way home that Henderson quit because he didn't like Boylen's off-the-court team rules. Does anybody know what these rules are so we can guage whether they are unreasonable or not? My guess is that Henderson is making a bad decision because he's still an immature kid.

I would be shocked if Ty Corbin's kid stays in Utah. It isn't like he is LDS so he doesn't have a draw to BYU and Utah is in shambles right now so I don't see why he would go there.

It may speak more to unrealistic expectations up on the Hill if he in fact is shown the door. I guess standing pat with Boylen may be the only choice at this point.
