I think BYU is unusual in that it hardly ever loses anyone. At Georgetown JTIII has lost a lot of guys. He lost four one year and seems to lose someone every year. One of them was the McD all-American Vernon Macklin who played for Florida in that game against BYU. I think this happens more often now. Players don't get playing time and it's almost a given they'll transfer. Needless to say this was a chronic problem under Majerus, and I saw it as a necessary evil, especialy at a place like Utah where coaches need to take risks with recruits or can't get everything on thier wish list.

The difference though is that schools like Georgetown and UCLA lose blue chips. There is a huge difference IMO between someone like Macklin transferring and anyone who left from this year's Utah team. People left Majerus' for the same reason people left Knight. They got tired of putting up with an asshole.

I think indy coug linked a recent post on CB wherein someone thought that a favorable development "bolds" well for BYU.

Hawkins was a fantastic player and his exodus was the beginning of the end of the Giacoletti era. Anyone who claims that Majerus left the cupboard bare is crazy. There was a lot of talent on that team when Majerus left.

Yes all those Majerus misses we're just great. We'd have been national champions, you know if basketball was a 3 on 3 sport with no subbing.

That is how I understood it. That was also a main reason that Robbie Reid transferred to Michigan instead of Utah(I can't recall how close that actually was but it was the deal killer for Utah).

Actually as I understood it, things between the Reids and Majerus were better because Rick was kind after BYU took a big ole shite on Roger. I understood the Reid thing came down closer to worries that the Utah Student Body which at the time actually went to would not be very accepting.

up until Jackson all the players who left Majerus were busts, like these guys. They turned out to be just not good enough for his program. He didn't lose a quality player until Jackson, and none thereafter.

This sounds like those BYU fans who say we didn't want them anyway. So if you want to disregard the others save Jackson, just think of what Utah could have done with two years of him with Bogut. Sad to think a big fat jerk kept you guys from something special.
