The hits just keep coming. The last time I felt this bad was early in the 2007 football season.
Col. Klink: "Staff officers are so clever."
Gen. Burkhalter: "Klink, I am a staff officer."
Col. Klink: "I didn't mean you sir, you're not clever."

I don't blame Hines in the slightest for leaving the program. We are fucked next year, we might not win 10 games.
In fact Funk prove that you might be a man. Lets make it interesting, I say we're closer to 20 wins than 10 and I'll even give you the bet at 15. Have any balls or are you going to be a woman about this like you are about most things.

Once again not attacking the substance of the post. Explain to me again how Boylen's first 3 years are equal to Majerus' first 3.

I realize now you are saying first 4 years, and I'm willing to concede that if next year that Boylen finishes in the top 10 and reaches the sweet 16 his first 4 years were equal to Majerus.

Two things, first I'm not betting on the Utes to lose. I'm a Ute fan and I'm not going to want to see the Utes lose. Second, I gave up the whole gambling thing several years ago.

So, how long do we give a coach to have Majerus like success? 3 years? 4?

It's difficult for a coach to have Majerus success at Utah. He had a 4 or 5 year run in which Utah was one of the best teams in the country. That he did it in SLC and in the WAC makes it even more impressive.

Utah has the odds stacked against them because of the BCS, which has tainted basketball as well as ruining college football. Because of this, we won't ever see another coach at Utah have Majerus success.

So closer to 20 than 15? You're predicting 4 more wins next year than this year?

                  I'd take that bet.

If I was an apostate BYU fan, I would take the bet too

Why don't you worry about your own team. This was your high water mark, your best season in the last two decades, and frankly, it wasn't great. It was Utah State good. Even with what returns you'll be third place at best next year. I think the Utes may overtake you. You're right about one thing; none of these departures matter much.

I always thought that BYU's 1996-1999 seasons (just 21 wins over 3 season) was a low point that Utah could never approach.

Now I'm not so sure -- there could be a 3-year stretch that bad for the Utes in the near future.

This should be bookmarked as a prediction.

I would love to represent the house in fielding a wager on Utah finishing in the top 2 of the conference and ahead of BYU in basketball next season.

You obviously can't make a bet that specific in Vegas, but I would gladly give 20:1 odds on that.

SU predicts Utah to win more games than BYU! I thought Crimson had taken the cake on the misinterpretation of today's events.

Utah will be worse next season, and the league will be better. You could be right about BYU being third. I'd predict 2nd, with 3rd more likely than 1st. Nonetheless, a lot of teams will be better next year, so barring some very lucky bounces, I see the Utes losing a lot of games.
