Link? You're the one that spouted off about GU being vastly more talented than Syracuse. I said they're not. And to borrow one of your favorite arguments, most in America would agree with me. You want to revive some of those threads and see who looked like an idiot?"Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

Me too. A lot. Florida doesn't concern me at all. Looking beyond them I think we matchup really well with Kansas State. Though that will be practically a home game for them, something to consider is Kansas will be playing in OKC too. I have a feeling we're going to have a lot of Jayhawk fans on our side.Originally posted by Viking View PostI like our draw."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

I don't like our draw. I don't think we can handle Kansas State.

According to ESPN's simulations BYU has a 60% chance of winning that game.Originally posted by Indy Coug View PostI don't like our draw. I don't think we can handle Kansas State.
I'd love for us to beat them up and see Frank Martin throw tantrums on the sideline."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

ROFL. ageism? really? that was the best ism you could throw out there?Originally posted by SeattleUte...ugly ageist talk...
can i get an official, internet binding note that you, seattleute, predict a florida win over byu? just for posterity? here, i'll draw up the form. please sign on the dotted line:
"I, x________________, member of the CougarUteForum.com message board, do hereby predict and commit to the consequences of said prediction, that the University of Florida men's basketball team will defeat the Brigham Young University men's basketball team on 18 March, 2010, in the first round of the NCAA tournament."
you can add a caveat that both teams have to have their full rosters healthy/in attendance (ie not in jail) if you'd like. i'd just like to have you go on record, if you could. thanks!Te Occidere Possunt Sed Te Edere Non Possunt Nefas Est.

People here get upset with you when your predictions prove to be accurate. I think this is because you generally display little to no day-to-day awareness of players, teams, or sports, in general. Often, your predictions seem unreasonable and you are also very adamant beforehand, thereby making it tough for people to come back and give you credit for your prognostication skills.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostI have said as clearly as I know how that I'm picking Florida to win that game.

I, for one, enjoy your sports posts because on the off chance you do wind up showing sports fanaticism (game attendance, for example) you wind up focusing on non-sports aspects of the experience....campus architecture, homoerotica, how the arena was funded, etc.
I think the board lacks appreciation for what you bring to the table in the sports fora, whereas I fully embrace it. Your uncanny and admittedly-fairly consistent ability to pick unlikely winners is as inexplicable as Steven Hawking purchasing the home edition of Dance Dance Revolution or as an Amish man working on commission at one of Larry Miller's car dealerships. But I respect your ability enough to feel a tinge of nervousness. For whatever reason, some of your sports predictions seem to come to fruition and I can only hope that you have not placed a pox on Jimmer and the Army of Helaman.
I hope to see you posting in this very thread on Thursday because to do anything less would be declasse.
ps I did notice that you made no reference to Georgetown's loss to WVU in the conference finals...but perhaps this was another one of your intentional tests for which you have recently become famous.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

I didn't predict GU would beat WV but I was optimistic. My optimism was not wildly out of line, as you saw.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostPeople here get upset with you when your predictions prove to be accurate. I did watch the game and here are my impressions. WV won by a millimeter, and literally the team that was most earnest in diving after loose balls won. Good old fashioned diving after loose balls carried the day. As a GU fan it was very frustrating. I don't know if GU had leaden legs after four games in four days or what. But every loose ball, it seemed, wound up in a West Virginia pair of hands, often amid a crowd of navy blue jerseys. This was reflected in WV winning massively on the boards, particularly offensive boards, agaisnt a team with a strong post game. The game was really fought in the trenches. Big East basketball at its best.
Maybe WV just wanted it more. I thought it was touching after the game how one of the playes said he kept thinking about how much the people of West Virginia love this team and how much a BIg East championsip would mean to them. That type of thing is what makes spectator sports special.
Bob Huggins and his team are an enigma. He's this seedy fat guy who has bounced around and let himself go physically to the dogs. He's screaming all the time and foul mouthed. But his teams play great half court team offense, their defensive schemes are dazzling and relentless, and they have tremendous heart. Wait a minute. . . I have seen this picture before.
WV also has a gutsy and quite talented PG who will take over a game or take the key shot and not assume anyone else really wants to do it. I think WV would be a great dark horse pick to win the whole thing.Last edited by SeattleUte; 03-15-2010, 09:37 AM.When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

Do my eyes deceive me or is the fan of a team not currently in the discussion very literally foaming at the mouth? SU, BYU fans and other sane Utah fans are trying to have a discussion about the first round matchup for BYU. If you'd like to participate you're welcome to do so, but please understand it's not worth raising your blood pressure when you have no dog in the fight. You've made your anti-BYU prediction, now move on.

Interesting blurb from ESPN if one dares to look past Thursday.
5. Fast-paced basketball in Oklahoma City. And no, I'm not talking about the Oklahoma City Thunder. Rather, if seeds hold and No. 7 seed BYU takes down its rather fluffy No. 10 first-round matchup with Florida, the Cougars will not only have won their first NCAA tournament game in ages -- they will have set up a dream matchup with No. 2 seed Kansas State. At 72.9 possessions per game, BYU is the No. 12 team in the country in adjusted pace; Kansas State is No. 31 with 71.1. Both teams feature great guards in Jimmer Fredette and K-State's Denis Clemente/Jacob Pullen duo, and both teams thrive on beating their opponents down the floor and hitting shots in transition. There's no chance this matchup was intentional, but three cheers to the committee here. For sheer entertainment, this second-round game will be hard to top.

Then bring it full circle and quit projecting your insecurities about your atrocious predictions record and move on. Do you have anything germane to the discussion of BYU v Florida? If not, please move to another 'I hate BYU' thread.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostI am not foaming at the mouth, trust me.
