I don't worry about that. Why would I? I'm enjoying the depth and talent this team has. While I expect to sweep Utah this year I wouldn't be totally shocked if we dropped the game at the HC. Afterall, we lost in Logan. If the Ute fanbase can double by February the Cougs are in for a battle. As for SU, he posted some 1-26 comment earlier which is reason #4,587 for why he is not relevant to me or any real Cougar fan. He's just bitter that his team isn't better and his program is in some current trouble.

BYU already swept Utah's worst team ever, in 2007. I'm reasonably confident that this year's team will win more than 11 games.

They were all the all time high school 3 point shooters from Texas?

Wow... there's a lot of those around then.

No but Mike Rose was and he was bigger and more athletic than Henderson.

Henderson and Jimmer are both 6-2. Supposedly Jimmer is 20 pounds heavier, but he's two years older. Their stats look a lot alike as freshmen. Jimmer was 7.0 ppg, and 40% from the field, 35% from threes.

Henderson averages 10+ ppg, 36% fg amd 33% 3 pt. shots. Henderson was more heavily recruited.

During Ray Giacoletti's last year, he decided, for reasons known only to himself and totally incomprehensible to anyone else, to start playing Chris Grant significant minutes. It was like he had finally snapped.

"ALL RIGHT, FINE! I AM GOING TO PLAY CHRIS GRANT FOR 25 MINUTES EVERY GAME, AND I DON'T GIVE A FAT MAN'S SWOLLEN GLAND IF ANYBODY HAS A PROBLEM WITH IT!"

The funny thing was, nobody really had a problem with it, because nobody could figure out what the Sam Hill he was trying to accomplish anyway.

This team isn't really like that team, but I'm more than slightly vexed about what the problems are. Here's a stab at it:

                          1. Youth. Sure it's a problem, but why is this a bigger problem for the Utes than for the Rebels or the Lobos or the Cheaters in Provo?

                          2. A few window lickers are being pretty hard on Marshall Henderson (played by Kirby Heyborne), but he's the only freaking guy on the whole freaking team who can shoot the freaking three. Well, him and Matt Read, and I heard Jordan Cyphers could hit the three in high school. My opinion is that his percentage is, uh, low because he always, yes always, has a hand in his adorable, cherubim-like face. He's the only guy on the whole team that needs to be guarded more than 15 feet from the basket, and that ain't that hard to take away. Plus, he's got more than a little Chucker in him.

2a. The Post. Utah's best low post scorer is probably Jay Watkins. This is only a problem because Jay Watkins never gets the ball in the post with an opportunity to score. Utah's scheme puts the 5 in the post, and uses the 4 to stretch the floor. Right. David Foster is under the impression that posting up happens about 36 inches inside the three point line. It's more of a hand off from the wing than a post entry pass. And even when the ball gets into the post, the Mighty Utes don't know what to do with it. Also, on a related note, none of the 4's can stretch the floor.

2b. Where have you gone, Andrew Bogut? Utah doesn't have a single player that has a complete offensive game right now. Henderson can't really create, Brown can't really shoot, Drca can't really stop having flashbacks to the brutality of Eastern European genocide, Watkins can't really shoot, Foster can't really use anything but the lefty hook, Tavita can't really look up when he dribbles, Glover can't really get off the bench, and Kim Tillie can't really translate whatever he does so well at practice to an actual game where they keep score and everything.

                          3. Anyway, the problems are all on the offensive end. This team is actually pretty good defensively, so what do you do? Tavita can really guard, and Foster is a game changer, but neither of them can score. But do you put them on the bench for Cyphers and Read? BWAAHAAAHAAA!! On nights when Utah hits the three, they can beat anyone in the conference (see last Saturday at the T&M). When they don't, pitoooey!

This post is much more negative than I intended, much like my personal finances. I really like these guys, and I'm not off the Boylen bandwagon. There's certainly a lot of work to do. Utah will be up and down until they find ways to score consistently in the paint. If they have to tear this universe a new black hole, they must find ways to score. They've GOT TO, MISTER!
