    Excellent.

Isn't there a Toolson kid about that age also?

Yes, a 9th grader who gets garbage minutes on the varsity team.

I don't plan to wade into this thread. Let me guess, goatnapper is speculating and pontificating that Boylen will have to play eternal second fiddle to Rose, and has reached a "ceiling" with last year's outright MWC title. This is the same nonsense we heard abut Whit. (Remember: Bronco is a "great coach," Whit is a "good" coach.)

By the way, MRD, I've been following sports for many years, and I've yet to see where there is a specially talented player whose younger brother matches his achievement. Sons and fathers, yes. Brothers, no. You probably have forgotten all those Judkins and Vranes who followed Jeff and Danny. Rose is welcome to those brothers.

I think we will see BYU run into some trouble here soon. If BYU escapes the Pit unscathed I'll be impressed.

No, 3rd fiddle to Rose and Kruger. Or is it 4th fiddle to Rose, Kruger and Alford?

I vaguely recall hearing talk that Majerus would have to play 2nd fiddle to Reid. This was in 94, when Majerus was in his .500 season and after BYU throttled Utah in the conference tournament.

Let me be the first to introduce you to Kyle Collinsworth. BYU starter at the small forward and MWC freshman of the year 2010/2011. The younger Emery and Haws are years away--who knows what will happen.

Emery is a freshman and you are correct he is already one of if not the best in the state. He is scoring 20 a game for a good Lone Peak team.

There is also an 8th grade Haws that will play varsity next year, and a 9th grade Toolson that is scoring close to 30 a game for the sophomore team and plays garbage varsity minutes.

BYU also has Demarcus Harrison who is going to be very good at the wing, Anson Winder who just signed is exploding this year and is a huge steal. Kyle Collinsworth was a top recruit.

Add in the fact that Jimmer and Jackson Emery are Jrs, Loyd is a soph, Haws and Davies are freshman, Abouo is a soph, Hartsock is a soph, and the future looks very bright.

If any coach believes about his team what you think Boylen believes about the Utes, then they are in the wrong profession.

I am convinced that Abouo starts next year. This year I think Kyle would have started, but next year when a stronger and more skilled Davies replaces Miles in the starting lineup, I doubt BYU will need another prolific scorer in its starting 5 - lest we have to pay luxury taxes! Honestly, I think Abouo will be a threat to still score 10 ppg so teams can't totally ignore him while trying to cover the greatest PG to ever play college ball in the lovely Deseret, Emery the Oldest, Miles, Hartsock....uhhhh sigh. Point is that BYU will have 1 prolific scorer, 2 very good scorers and one good scorer. Chucky's defense, offensive rebounding and athleticism will be more valuable than Collinsworth's highly polished offensive game. For that reason he will probably not get the freshman POY award, although all informed opinions will rate him as the best freshman player! Sorry! Just being honest!

I think there are a lot of coaches who don't believe they can meet their fans' expectations of previous glories under legendary coaches. I also am of the highly uninformed opinion that he doesn't view himself as a Utah lifer and part of that is that I think he is recognizing that he better be really good to get Utah back to dominating the MWC or being the cream de la cream!
