It's not scary to the white nationalist fascists the party has mostly become. But I do think the gop is becoming delusionally overconfident. I think the take in this piece is correct -- the Republicans lose the next one if a key message of theirs becomes "the riot was a good thing"

How can you stick with this party? We’ve had 5 years of Trumpism and post Trump it’s obvious there is no alternative to Trumpism. It’s continuous white grievance and culture war craziness.

Where’s the powerful/intellectual/organized case by a serious person/group to change the course of the party?

The next guy up is Trump without the tweets. He lambasts media, flirts with racist rhetoric and passes dumb laws to placate the far right of the party. After him it’s a cliff until you find the Rubios/Cruz’s/Hawleys/Noems/Haileys who are absolutely unserious people.

I just don’t know anyone who doesn’t live in AOCs district or anyone with a brain can vote for almost any republican as constituted.

Help me understand.

I've been made to understand that, to them, the 'alternative' is untenable. Don't bother asking what that is, because they don't know either and refuse to peek behind the curtain of critical thinking. But it includes the words Marxism, Socialism, Communism, and you know... whatever other term that will frighten non-curious people.
