I stand by everything I've said. I've been saying for a long time that Trump won't peacefully transition power. I was talking about since before it was even a topic of discussion, when everyone dismissed the idea because the thought that a President would not accept the results of an election was preposterous. Now we have a President whose position is that if he doesn't win the vote, then he declare the election illegitimate. That's what dictators do. If someone isn't alarmed by that, then they're an idiot. No offense to you personally.

I will tell you that if a scenario unfolds where Trump loses the election, declares the election illegitimate, and it ends up in the Supreme Court and the Justices he appointed don't recuse themselves and are pivotal in allowing him to regain power, then we are headed for a civil war. If that scenario unfolds there are many that will conclude that the government in power is illegitimate. All that will left to decide is whether the President is removed from power peacefully or not.

Let me ask you, if Trump loses the election, declares it illegitimate and wrangles power back because of the votes of justices that he appointed, what do think the response of the American people will be. Do you think they're going to simply shrug and say, "Oh well, that's just Trump being Trump"? If that's what you think, then you underestimate the resolve of the American people. You might shrug, but there are millions who won't.

I think that most people will weigh the pros and cons of risking their lives in a "Civil War" over 4 more years of Trump, and maybe, just maybe, decide to wait out those 4 years before reaching for their AR-15's. I think that most people would understand that turning urban environments into post-apocalyptic warzones would be detrimental to the well being of their children. I don't think that things will escalate the same way you do.

And I stand by everything I’ve said. Which is that there is no reason to be alarmed unless and until that actually happens. And the chances of your scenario playing out are remote enough that I don’t think it’s worth considering at this point. And it certainly isn’t worth worrying about.

But what it actually sounds like is that you are hoping for riots, chaos and possibly an assassination even if Trump is legitimately re-elected. So to ensure that, you are sewing the seeds of insurrection now.

If Trump’s election is confirmed in the same manner in which other elections have been confirmed, and you think that provides a basis for a civil war, I think you’re the idiot. No offense to you personally, of course.

All the left has to do is motivate its base and not allow him to be re-elected. If that happens, Trump is leaving peacefully. Not without lawsuits. Not without allegations of fraud and corruption. But voluntarily, nonetheless.

Love me some NS civil war prophecy!

I’ll honestly admit that I think you over estimate the far left and far right factions. Most people will accept the election and it won’t go to the Supreme Court unless something like 2000 happens again, which probably won’t happen. Most conservatives will bitch and moan about Trump losing but it won’t be anything more than the liberals that have bitched and moaned for the past three years.

            • i, for one, love the civil war talk. how exactly would that look? i'm no civil war scholar, but i think the first time it was north vs south. which side gets the north and which side gets the south this time? or do they split it up east and west just for a change of pace?

so intrigued by how this "civil war" would actually look. mostly i just hope somebody will tell me who i'm supposed to fight against since i'm mostly conservative but tend to vote dem on occasion.

Sorry to tell you, but you're probably one of the first to go.

Logic tends to agree with you here. I think you get the exact same flavor of railing against Biden as you saw against Obama-- except the racism will be swapped out for ageism... from Trump supporters.

                    • Trump's comments are alarming because it creates more drama and fires up his dumbass base. And it is horribly un-american. But if he loses he is not going to retain power and we will not have a civil war. Come on.

                        • pathetic. Look what Trump did to SC. Turned it into a battleground state and Trump's chief ass-kisser is on the hot seat. Unbelievable. Iowa is tied. IOWA.

I’m staying on the left coast and casting my lot with the liberals, and allying with the east coast. The MAGAs will obviously be better armed, but we’ll have the seaports. We’ll starve those red bastards in the Midwest!
