I also don't like explaining to strangers why I'm apparently an inconsiderate asshole. It's for other people's comfort and embarrassing all the same. Plus I'm pretty sure I could still get it and spread it. Some studies have said I have immunity for three months but that time has come and gone anyway.

It's known that you ahve immunity for at least three months but likely much longer. I think immunity from one to three years is the most common guess right now but of course no one knows.

Actually nobody knows, since the virus appeared less than a year ago and studies are ongoing. I think I'll take the responsible, cynical approach rather than the irresponsible optimistic approach. Sorry to rain on your parade.

In South America there are some cases of people having a second round of it. They are just getting past their flu season...we are just entering ours.

Three month immunity is known. The virus has been around for almost a year. Antibodies remain for at least three months. What’s not known is long term immunity, which isn’t usually based on antibodies, so it could be three months or it could be for life.

This isn't true. Antibodies are the most widely used method to detect immunity, both long and short term. The memory B-cells that arise from any infection that leads to long-term immunity can live for decades. There is another component that you may be referring to, the T-cells that are required to initiate the immune response. But that component is rarely tested in clinical medicine.

I heard on NPR that the threshold is fifteen minutes within 6 feet of someone infected. This casts doubt on your story that you caught Covid because you had to run inside the gas mart to pay because pay at the pump malfunctioned. You aren't accepting responsibility.

I told my wife that if Pete got fined 100k for not wearing a mask Cam Newton should be fined 200k for getting infected. She said, You can't fine someone for getting sick which they can't control! I felt like arguing with her but decided I'd better not.

Sound logic there. You are guaranteed immunity as long you are only next to someone for 14 minutes or less.

Pretty sure if someone sneezes in your direction you are a goner within seconds.
