FDA now requires submission of data and heightened sensitivity/specificity of COVID antibody tests:

Trump sucks at being a politician, and he doesn't. Cuomo will probably never be president.

Down over 20% year over year and dropping like a rock. For perspective, we had a total drop of about 25% between 2008 and 2009 during the financial crisis.
April carloads down 25% year over year. The worst decline in any month on record.

          b. we make risks trade offs all the time. Why cant we approach the risk tradeoff for covid-19 the same way? For example, if you asked my parents if they would take an increased risk of getting the disease and an increased risk of dying vs having their kids go bankrupt they take that trade off. Remember all old people arent assured of dying if we open up. They just have an increased risk.

I hate doing autopsies, but I love hearing interesting autopsy results. Prospective cohort of 12 COVID patients show venous thrombosis in 8, and pulmonary emobolism in 4 (enough to be declared cause of death; is it COVID related? ). Virus was detected in organs other than lungs in 5.

Like JIC says, this is a completely unique disease.

Playing 36 holes at Circling Raven tomorrow, at the Couer D Alene Indian casino and resort. Not only is there zero social distancing going here, they literally announced: “You must where your mask at all times, unless you are having a drink or taking a puff of your cigarette”

C'mon, Trump has been a disaster. Wasted a month try to glad talk the virus away, unable to harnass the federal government to do fairly simple things like buy stuff needed to fight the virus (5 weeks ago he bragged that anybody will be able to get tested and WE STILL CAN"T DO THAT!), one day claiming all power, the next day shoving it all off onto the governors (and then lashing out when Governor Hogan goes out and gets test kits from Korea), blaming Obama for leaving the cupboards bare (three years into his term), pushing very hard on the hydroxychloroquine button, instituting guidelines for the states to follow when opening up, then turning around and stoking the "liberate" movements when governors followed those guidelines, the constant lying and lying and lying, and the pièce de résistance: musing about injecting disinfectant into our bodies to kill the COVID. Very few things at the federal level are working well. The states have had to step up to do things that the feds should be doing (like leading out on a testing program), all the while competing with each other to get needed PPE and other medical equipment. Oh, and the tweets.

Trump is an unmidigated disaster as COVID warrior (and as a human being).

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Yeah, shoving 90 different unapproved tests with questionable efficaacy out on the market hasn't helped at all with this. I find it odd that FDA felt compelled to give some of these EUA. Why these?

Free tests were offered to us in our zip code a few days ago even if you were without symptoms, due to the birthday party thing, so we got tested. Results came back negative.

Had to go to our HQ in Draper yesterday afternoon. Driving home I passed a skateboard park. Buch of teenagers 50+ not interested in social distancing or wearing masks. I couldn't say I was surprised.

this is really good MRD. thanks for posting. gotta love the self righteous "even one death is too many" dipshits. if one death were too many cars would be outlawed, alcohol would be outlawed, and we'd literally never step foot outside for any reason under the sun. the fact is, deaths are an acceptable part of life. we do things every day that could kill us.

the stated goal of shut downs was to flatten the curve. it was a good goal. we couldn't have overrun hospitals and doctors and nurses putting their lives in peril because they didn't have sufficient protective equipment. deaths will happen, but at the same time we have to live our lives. people have to work. they literally have to work. 20% self inflicted unemployment is not an option in the long run. if that's what it took to flatten the curve in the short term, it had to be done. we can't do this forever or for even much longer. and to be entirely fair, many governors understand this as well, hence several states have opened up. and good for them.
