NWCoug says that Remdesivir is our best hope and Hydroxychloroquine is a bunch of crap. Remdesivir, however, will be like $4,500 for a treatment course! This drug, of course, comes from the same company that rapes americans for that hep C drug that costs $84,000 per course. But maybe we can take a little trip to India, see the Taj Mahal, and get this drug on the cheap too.

Your next argument will be ‘we need randomized trials’. Which is right. But it’s clear now that the Trump hype and hundreds of millions of dollars spent on this were misguided.

I didn’t easily find what the new FDA standards are, but UW is reporting the Abbott Labs antibody test to have 99.9% specificity and 100% sensitivity.

A new syndrome felt related to Covid infection. I had seen a previous report of a Kawasaki like illness but this is a different. Thankfully, it appears to be extremely rare

Yeah I saw that. I still can’t find the original Abbott data though.
Roche’s test is claiming 99.8% specificity and 100% sensitivity. Given the market share of both these companies, I’d expect these 2 tests to become very popular in the future.

Intermountain Healthcare and public health officials trying to understand why Utah County is experiencing a spike in COVID-19 cases.

According to Intermountain Healthcare, officials tracking the virus consider Utah County, specifically areas in Orem and Provo to be hotspots. On Thursday, Intermountain launched its mobile testing unit in the parking lot of Utah Valley Hospital in an effort to test as many people in area as possible.


Teri Adams with Intermountain Healthcare says:

"We want everyone within those identified zip codes to please come get tested. That’s 84057, 84606, 84601,”

After over two weeks of daily community spread new cases below 10 (somedays at 0), Korea reported 17 community spread cases today. The outbreak is centered around five nightclubs in Itaewon, a popular entertainment district in Seoul (near the closing Yongsan U.S. Army Base). We've been receiving disaster alerts via cell phone identifying the night clubs (King, Queen, Soho, Trunk, and Him) and telling people that if they frequented those nightclubs between April 29-May 6, they need to get tested. New cases related to these night clubs are now over 20. Many of the alerts are coming from provincial governments outside of Seoul warning their citizens that may of gone to those particular bars that they need to get tested.

The Korean Government has warned about these types of outbreaks as they try to transition less strict social distancing recommendations. They've obviously come out in force to test and contact trace to shut this spread down ASAP. This transparency let's people know where the spread is and allows them to manage their risk of infection and gives everyone greater confidence in going out. It also allows the country to move forward in opening the economy with greater ability to protect its citizens.
