How does the fast track vaccine testing work? I assume they give the vaccine to a small number off individuals and then check the antibody blood test results, but fast tracking, they can’t really validate with certainty that no one has caught the virus after getting the vaccine since it is such a short time period. I assume we can’t ethically exposed people to the virus. How big of a risk is there that we get an ineffective vaccine or are the antibody tests enough?

Obviously, it is worth the risk fast tracking this since no vaccine is much worse than even a less than effective vaccine.

That's a good video but I still hate it when anyone uses case counts as any sort of comparison. It's a meaningless comparison, especially when you are showing July case count relative to March/April. I guess if the intention is to scare people, then it's effective.

Actually, people are debating that right now. It’s been done for previous vaccines. But it’s different for coronavirus since there’s no cure if an exposed patient gets really sick.

Who said I’m not alarmed? I’m more anti Trump than most on this site. I’m just pointing out misleading way of using statistics. We didn’t have testing capacity in March/April so of course the observed count is lower than now. But are total infections lower? No one knows. Texas hospitals aren’t at capacity like the hospitals were in New York. Texas seems to be handling the localized surges much better than New York did.

It was a rhetorical question in response to your comment, and I agree that the manner in which the stats are used is potentially misleading. What is promising is the fact that Health systems appear to be better at treating people. New York was unfortunate enough to suffer first, but a lot was learned concerning what to do and not do. Clearly though, infections are on the rise and the lack of leadership in the Whitehouse is infuriating.
