Texas continued to open slowly during May. The spike in cases didn’t happen until about a week after the protests started. It seems fairly clear that the protests are driving the spike more than anything else. This is also helped by the fact most of the surge in cases is in the 18-35 age range, which was the age range of a majority of the protesters.

Same here in Ohio. We have over 800 positives in one day but the majority were in the 20-40 range. Our Hospitalizations, ICU and Death rates are all still trending down. 21-day average of Hospitalization was 56, 21-day average in ICU was 13 and deaths have a 21-day average of 21.

In the last 24 hours it has Hospitalization of 68, ICU of 7 and deaths of 16.

We also have major testing centers across the state which has increased the positives and we are still averaging 5% positives based on the number of tests.

We have not even hit 1% in any of the data points for the entire state..

Our Governor was trying to point the number increases in positives and then tried to point to Hospitalizations, ICU and deaths to back up his fear mongering and blundered his way when he realized the data didn’t support his doom & gloom mantra.

That's all fine, but unless the young infected people stay away from the elderly and vulnerable, your hospitalizations will go up. And the more exponentially it moves through the younger population, the more of those elderly will get infected from them.

They could have at least waited for July 4 so it would have been funny.

Since Brexit, not a lot of funny in the EU.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Italians in a slapsticky kind of way, but that's it.

Of course, he might have a financial incentive to be one dimensional. I am pretty sure Pfizer is not going to give its vaccine away.

Sweden is #5 in percapita deaths, moving up quickly and will likely be #3 in a week.

There are many factors and you point out one. This is very true and why I think masks should be required to help reduce this. I do not understand the complaint about this..

An additional question is, are all the positives asymptotic or symptomatic. Meaning, are they actually contagious? This will determine the spread.

One thing to keep in mind is that even under lockdown, 80% of our deaths were elderly in nursing homes. They were not out in the public so is it really a threat to the elderly who live in the community? And the other 10% or above were those in our prisons. We had a major outbreak in a few.

Community-wise, only 5% accounted for the deaths we have.

It will be interesting to monitor to see if our hospitalizations and ICU’s increase. That has not been the case as of yet. In fact, the numbers today were lower..

??? On this set of data they are #7 but maybe you don't count some of the smaller countries. And Sweden claims that their recent jump in infection rate is due to testing and their fatality rate seems like it is going down:
