Yep this pandemic had exposed such an interesting schism in society.

Is it the government’s job to make every decision pertaining to how individuals, families and corporations best balance competing economic and health interests or should it be up to the individuals, families, and corporations themselves to make those decisions?

Occupational health hazards are ubiquitous and it is so freaking common for men especially to put their health at tremendous risk in the pursuit of money, and not just in the third world. I don’t see how you can legislate that out of existence honestly, even in a pandemic that is only going to work briefly.

No it’s not. He picks a single meaningless line out of an article about a whole bunch of subjects. It’s the kind of crap we have to put up with from that garbage rag Washington Post everY day.

What’s the point of what’s reported in that single line? Case reports are a function of testing more than anything else. In other words, by itself it’s a meaningless figure if your objective is to understand whether these states are managing their reopening correctly.

He’s been a cheerleader for remaining permanently shut down and posting all kinds of panic porn and articles about kooks.

Meanwhile, there’s plenty of evidence that this shutdown is destroying the free world and especially wreaking havoc in India.

Just those three states? In the whole country? Why aren’t you (and your Washington Post) celebrating that the new cases continue to decline in 47 states, even with vastly increased testing? What about that South Carolina, Texas and California have deaths per million of 97, 58 and 107? Better than all of Europe including Germany. Why don’t you post about some of the horrific suffering among the poor in the US and abroad because of the shutdown and 40% of the people with no jobs and public assistance about to end?

expected (and okay) as things start to open up. i haven't read through this thread, but utah is also experiencing pretty dramatic highs - not good, but again we have to expect some increases as we open back up. but as long as hospitalizations stay manageable, opening up was and is the right course of action.
