At what point did you / will you take the coronavirus epidemic seriously?

I am sure the warm weather had a lot to do with it, but there were a ton of people out shopping, in the parks, etc over the weekend. Very little social distancing going on. The natives are getting restless.

We went to AF Canyon and the parking lots were packed way more than normal. Fortunately there are a bunch of big huge mountains with tons of space and we encountered far fewer people on our hike than we would have if we were at the grocery.

I too believe God can heal anything. I also believe that just because He can doesn't necessarily mean He will.

It's a little more nuanced than that. Lockdowns in places like New York City were necessary (high population density, mostly mass transit, etc.) but lockdowns in other places not like NYC were a bad idea and likely didn't do much good...and certainly did more harm in destroying the economy in those places. My personal opinion is that the lockdown did wake people up to the dangers of the virus and I think going overboard at first will help maintain good social distancing for the long term.

Oh my god. Certainly there was a less destructive way to get us to take the virus seriously. We had our Pearl Harbor alright, and our own governments dropped bombs on us.

For New York it was right only insofar as necessary to prevent health care from being overwhelmed. That’s still an open question, but whether it’s necessary now is not.

Even dopey Thomas Friedman finally gets it that we need to make hard choices and trade-offs. They’re not easy to address, but finally everyone (except woke morons like AOC) agrees this must be done. Amazing how few foresaw this is where we would inevitably arrive.
