I think the best way to explain this is to point out that the majority of Utahns love Mike Lee.Originally posted by Joe Public View PostRomney is one of the bright spots of the Senate. What do Utahns not like?As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression

I had a brief conversation this morning with a McMullen voter who is hopeful that the election results will kill Trumpism and Romney can rise back to prominence in the GOP.
I do think by early 2024 that Trump and Trumpism will be a neutered movement but i dont think there is any way Romney will be able to rehab his standing in the GOP. I fully expect him to lose his primary if he decides to run again. Rightly or wrongly, Romney's political fortunes were ruined by Trump.

I agree and I think his reputation will slowly be rehabilitated. But he he will not get reelected. Unless things start to turn around for him, I hope he decides not to run. If he stays in only the crazies will try to primary him. But if he isn't running maybe a quality candidate with integrity will enter a primary who wouldn't if he was to run for another term.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View Post

This intrigues me. I know a lot people have been unhappy with Mitt in recent years (I'm not one of them). But I'm legitimately curious who could beat him. He has huge name recognition, is still well respected by moderate to left leaning republicans, and he still has deep pockets. I don't follow utah politics close enough to know might challenge him, let alone actually win an election.Originally posted by USUC View Post

I'm in your camp. People like my mom still venerate Romney, even though they are on the trumpy side of the spectrum. There has to be enough sane Utahns to dilute the crazy vote if Romney runs again.Originally posted by Art Vandelay View Post

Yeah, Mitt in 2024 is toast unless he and Mike Lee regularly gets pedicures together and become great buds."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.
