Romney is not welcome at CPAC. But keep in mind, this important conservative gathering was welcomed genuine bigots and anti-semites in recent years.

I'd expect Mitt to be more disappointed by a loss to St. Mary's or, for that matter, an empty bottle of BYU chocolate milk, than by being disinvited to CPAC.

Back on point, I'd love to see the emails that the DOJ announced last evening that pertain to Trump's withholding of Ukrainian aid and which they're not making public. I'm sure they reflect badly on Trump which is why we haven't seen them. Despite all of his unpredictability, one very consistent thing about Trump is that if there is anything of good report or praiseworthy, he will release it; if it reflects poorly on him, then "Executive Privilege!"

Are you saying that politicians are quick to take credit for apparent successes and slow to release information that may be twisted or construed in a negative manner?

If so, this really is a groundbreaking observation! Have you considered using your admirable insight to write a book?

I’ll get to work on the suggested book after I finish my current tome about those who see no difference between Trump and other politicians. Will you write the foreword?

So, if I'm following your astute insights, pointing out a trait that practically all politicians share in common is equivalent to seeing no difference between Trump and other politicians?

Literary agents must be beating a path to your door. Do you have a Ring?

PAC has a lot more political wisdom than your bigoted hero Pat Buchanan who is obsessed with America not having enough white people.

Pretty sure you post more about Buchanan than I do. "Rent free," as they say.

                Regardless, this is still true.

                • You know, I liked Ron Paul. I thought his son was going to be similar. And, for a while, he was, sort of. Sure, Rand was not a carbon copy of Ron, and they had their differences in policy. But I'd like to think that Ron wasn't quite the bootlicker that Rand has become.

Today, Rand finally got to ask the question that had been shut down twice before:

The purpose, of course, is to claim that claim that the whistleblower (presumed to be Ciaramella, despite Rand's much protestations that he doesn't know), had a bias.

The problem is that the whistleblower is 100% irrelevant. Whistleblowers frequently are, after the fact. Their purpose is to call attention to the wrongdoing, and permit the investigative bodies to do their job and investigate. So the whistleblower's bias does not matter. It could be Joe Biden's secret gay lover working at the NSC, and it would. not. matter. The bias of investigators, and their conclusions, might be relevant, but the whistleblower isn't an investigator. But rather than get to the merits, Rand jumps headfirst into idiotic conspiracy theories.

You should listen to the full context of the questions Paul asked. It seems that Eric Ciaramella and Adam Shiffhead were in meetings together talking about how to impeach Drumpf. It was like it was all being plotted and planned. The whistleblower should be a witness and it is relevant... otherwise it is all just hearsay. He is the video of Paul finally asking his question before the senate. Or what is left of the senate. It doesn't look like anyone is there.

All this crap doesn't matter. The last I read there are Dems voting against the articles of impeachment and this is just more egg on the faces of Pelosi and the house dems.

I watched Rand's full remarks on C-SPAN and completely understand the context. Unfortunately, he just wanted to suck up to ol' Dimwitted Donnie, which is why he trotted out conspiracy theory after conspiracy theory, because he knows that Dim Don eats that stuff up.

It does not matter if the whistleblower hated Dim Don's guts. The reason it doesn't matter is that the whistleblower simply notified the proper authorities that an investigation was in order - and they investigated. It's the results of that investigation, and Dim Don's refusal to either assert executive privilege or permit executive branch members to participate in the investigation, that lead to the hearings. The bias of the whistleblower is a red herring, which is Fox & Friends' favorite dish to serve.

In his role as whistelblower you are, of course, correct. In his role as a witness, either voluntarily or involuntarily through use of his whistleblower statement, his (or her) bias is relevant.

                        • Trump's new toady: Robert C. O’Brien

White House national security adviser says Trump didn’t seek Ukraine’s help with investigations despite evidence to the contrary

White House national security adviser Robert C. O’Brien asserted Wednesday that President Trump had not sought Ukrainian help investigating former vice president Joe Biden and his son, Hunter, despite evidence to the contrary.

Trump expressly asked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to “look into” the Biden family during the July 25 phone call that played a central role in House Democrats decision to impeach the president for allegedly pressuring a foreign ally to investigate his domestic political rival.
That's it, the first two paragraphs. No need to read any further. He's a bold-faced liar for Trump, the first requirement for any job in the Administration.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."
