He's pushed the limits of tolerance so far - that future holders will have an easier time navigating the outer boundaries of the office, and will be able to govern at a higher bandwidth. I'm sure thirty years from now they'll say - "sure President Huntsman's an idiot - but he's no Trump. In many ways it will make it easier to be the President. Trump is actually doing a service to the office - in a completely doofus way - and unintentional - but I think historians will look back and see the office changed after the Trump era.
I think he proved that literally anybody can do it. Think what it'll be like once we have a college-educated, non-syphilitic moron in office!

Congress should be addressing several important issues, including immigration reform and health care, but it's easier to engage in political grandstanding and to avoid the hard stuff, so here we are.
To me it's not a waste of time if it drives home who he really is to the electorate. If that's possible.

The problem is I think who/what he really is was long ago included in the electoral calculation of almost all voters. It remains to be seen if this will make fence sitters like him less or like the dems less. There remains the risk that this is all counterproductive wrt to larger political goals. Although there might still be evidence to come that is even worse (such as in the whistleblower complaint).
        PLesa excuse the tpyos.

LOL... We don't need any "credible evidence". Anyone with half of a brain will know that Biden's crackhead, train wreck of a son couldn't possibly be qualified to sit on a board of an ukrainian company and earn $50,000/mo. The dude is a drunk, crackhead, and womanizer who even moved in and started sleeping with his dead brother's wife only weeks (or less than a month) after he died. He has women coming forward claiming he fathered their child and isn't paying child support. The dude even was dumb enough to set up an Ashley Madison account. Hunter is dumber than a bag full of left handed hammers. Anyone that believes he was remotely qualified to sit on the board of that Ukrainian company is smoking the same crack he was/is smoking. This is kind of entertaining.

Hey, you remember when those two Russians tricked Rep. Schiff into thinking they have naked pictures of Drumpf? This is more entertaining than that.

          • This is an opportunity for Americans to reassert our shared values. I'm sensing a desire to stop deconstructing ourselves and our processes, and to rediscover our shared purpose.

I don't expect everyone to sing Kumbaya, but some healing can happen if we can rid ourselves of King Donald.

Yeah, the Dems realize they can't beat him in 2020 so they have to try to impeach him. It seems that about the only sane Dem is Tulsi Gabbard:

“Look, my position remains the same. I think that impeachment would be terribly divisive for our already very divided country. I think Congress needs to exercise oversight over the information that’s been leaked. I think that it’s important that this transcript is released to Congress so that Congress can do its job. But I think the question of impeachment really would further tear apart an already divided country.

[She said if her 2020 opponents] "don’t think they can beat Trump, then maybe they shouldn’t be running."
Buck up you cry baby Dems. Pull it together like Gabbard.

              • I don't have much confidence that this will rid us of this buffoon. If it does go forward, then obviously the House will impeach and it will be up to the Senate to vote. Those Republicans will need to stand up and be accountable. Sure, I'd rather an election loss for this dope, but what he has done more recently is so egregious that it needs to be addressed. Do we really want to solicit foreign influence into our elections? Do we want our leaders using their offices to do so? I don't see how the House doesn't act on this.

                  • Barr needs to go. He's done serious damage to the DOJ. I can't help but wonder whatever became of the counterintelligence investigation into Trump.

Wow Ted, that’s more links than your usual posts have! But I have to decline. I’m gonna go out on a limb and admit that although he seems like a rather unsavory character, the only available evidence that the elder Biden muscled Ukraine for his protection is of your typical tinfoil variety.

I suggest you and UT start a new thread on this topic where it can get the full hearing that it deserves.

                              • Seven days: Inside Trump’s frenetic response to the whistleblower complaint and the battle over impeachment

Yet the frenetic messaging emanating from the White House further underscored the internal divides and undercut the administration’s official nothing-to-see-here posture. Mnuchin and Pompeo, for instance, appeared on the Sunday shows to say it was not appropriate to share private conversations between world leaders, only to have their arguments undermined in real time by the president, who began confirming details of the call and hinting that he would soon share the rough transcript.

The White House also accidentally blasted out all their Wednesday talking points to Democratic congressional offices — including to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) — and then sent a follow-up message trying to “recall” their mistake. The talking points included attacking Democrats in Congress for “damaging our national security for political gain.”
lol, it's a real keystone cops show.

Meanwhile, morale inside the White House is low, current and former officials said. There is a growing sense that this new controversy will echo the Mueller probe, consuming all of the White House’s bandwidth for the coming months and dashing hopes of pushing through even Trump’s modest legislative agenda.

With the president already acting as his own adviser, it was difficult to attract new talent to join the White House, several current and former senior administration officials said. And now, there is concern that some staffers may leave, eager to avoid the morass of impeachment proceedings.
Bingo. This administration is already down to the ZZZ team, hence the screw ups and lack of continuity. Trump is running the show. Who wants to get caught up into all of this? This impeachment war of attrition will tie the White House up in knots.
