I am not talking about the war in Iran in 2026, nor the bombing of the school. Not everything done WRT Iran is the same thing. I am talking about the assassination of one guy in 2020, about whom Trump was gloating in the short clip. Maybe Trump went on to gloat about other kills too, my bad if so.
He was, after all, a HUMAN.

Excellent point. This is the same reason as a person who is not a supporter of Trump, I come to this thread: to HUMANIZE HIM. Will none of you think about Trump's humanity??? If you cut him, does he not bleed? Underneath the layers of bronzer, there is just a man! You bastards in your high towers!!!

Based on your empassioned plea, I am no longer in favor of sending several missiles to destroy any boat in the ocean containing a human like Trump. Sadly, I doubt Trump (or Brock) would extend the same courtesy to other humans.

          Oh good lord.

Hey Grok. Who is this dude (Soleimani)?

          Qasem Soleimani

Qasem Soleimani (also spelled Qassem Soleimani or Qassim Suleimani) was an Iranian major general who led the Quds Force, the overseas operations branch of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, from 1998 until his death in 2020. He became one of the most influential military figures in the Middle East, admired by many supporters in Iran while viewed by many governments, including the United States, as a central architect of Iran’s regional military strategy and support for allied armed groups.

          Career and rise to prominence

Soleimani joined the IRGC after the Iranian Revolution and served extensively during the Iran–Iraq War. After the war, he held regional commands before being appointed commander of the Quds Force in 1997–1998. Under his leadership, the force expanded Iran’s influence through military, intelligence, and advisory operations across the Middle East.

          Regional influence

Soleimani played a significant role in shaping Iran’s relationships with allied governments and armed groups in countries including Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon. He was closely associated with Iranian support for groups such as Hezbollah and with support for the government of Bashar al-Assad during the Syrian civil war. He also coordinated with Iraqi forces and militias in campaigns against Islamic State. His actions made him an influential strategist in Iran’s regional security policy and a highly controversial figure internationally.

          Death

On January 3, 2020, Soleimani was killed in a U.S. drone strike near Baghdad International Airport. The strike, ordered by U.S. President Donald Trump, also killed Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis and others. The United States said the operation was intended to prevent planned attacks on U.S. personnel, while Iran condemned it as unlawful and responded with missile strikes on U.S. bases in Iraq, sharply increasing regional tensions.

          Legacy

Soleimani remains one of the most consequential and divisive military figures in recent Middle Eastern history. In Iran, he is commemorated by the government as a national hero and symbol of resistance. Elsewhere, particularly in the United States and among several regional governments, he is widely regarded as responsible for directing operations and supporting armed groups involved in conflicts that caused significant casualties and instability. His legacy continues to be the subject of intense political and historical debate.

We've all learned the hard way that regime change doesn't work without a decades-long commitment to boots on the ground. And even then, it still probably won't work.

Attacking Iran was supposedly not about regime change. But since none of the supposed objectives of this alleged 2-week non-war have come to fruition--4+ months into it now--please forgive me if "but, they were bad people and this regime needed to change" is not seeming like a valid reason for any of what has gone on in Iran.
Ummmm. This convo wasn’t about the blunder of what is the war with Iran at this moment. It is about a guy killed or even in this second term of Trump. Which, goes to the idiotic blubbering speech he gave about this.

Soo. Now we are talking about drug runners in comparing a terrorist. You are so hell bent to paint this picture of me you lose any creditability. Terrorist. Don’t give two shits and he is dead. Drug runners blown up in a boat. Not Ok whatsoever. And another tainted memory of this hellish second term.

Keep throwing shit on the wall.

Interesting -- where is the line between HUMANS and NON-HUMANS, since you are happy to kill NON-HUMANS, but have your own definition of who should be killed and who should be saved.

He did. He included the first and second 'strings' of Iranian leadership and others. I realize they are probably not any more sympathetic than Souleimani, but my point was that Trump celebrates extrajudicial killing more than any president should, human or not.

                        So, human.

Look, you can think someone is evil and deserves to die as punishment for their sins. You can think someone is a lawful military target, and capture would be both too risky and unlikely to succeed. You can think all those things simultaneously, or neither at all. But the moment you start getting casual about murder is when you cross over a line, that, in my opinion, should never be crossed by political leadership. Was Soleimani an adversary to the US? Yes. Still human. If captured, he would have been and should have been treated with basic regard.

The lesson of Abu Ghraib is that we shouldn't be the people who do monstrous shit.

So, you are now comparing a targeted killing of a terrorist to the actions of soldiers who tortured prisoners. Again, neither are the same nor was any torture taken place. He was a an enemy of the U.S. As many times Obama took out terrorist, this falls into the same category. Difference? Obama is decent enough to never brag about this.

Trump gloating was just another level of his narcissistic behaviors. No diplomacy or maturity.

Grieving relatives still seeking answers as US normalises ‘drug boat’ strikes

Family of St Lucian fisher Ricky Joseph left suspended in raw grief, while media coverage of attacks is waning

"It has been more than four months since Ricky Joseph left his home for the last time.

His partner, Lucille Charles, and their chidren were still asleep at home on the Caribbean island of St Lucia, when Joseph, 35, set out to sea early in the morning on 13 February to fish for tuna, ballyhoo and snapper."
