Why couldn't Trump have found another group to exploit for his own gain than the national conservatives? Fifteen years ago he was a squishy liberal who didn't like immigration and liked tarrifs. Bernie didn't particularly care for immigration back then either. And he likes tarrifs. I guess the national mood was right for the dumbest populists possible to be exploited.
