I wrote both John Curtis and Mike Lee on Wednesday. Curtis' office sent back a ambiguous reply about how he didn't like tarrifs but will wait and see. Nothing yet from Lee's office. My congressman doesn't even have a way to write him. So I'll probably call his office.

I just wrote my congresswoman (a democrat). First time I've ever done that not as part of a Boy Scouts of America activity.

Here is the breakdown of all of Utah's congressional delegation and their thoughts. Not very inspiring. A lot of hedging and support for "reciprocal tarrifs." Funny thing is, these aren't even close to reciprocal.

You don't think 90+ percent tariffs on Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia are reasonable? They probably looked around and thought, "What did we do? We can't even drink our own water safely."

I pulled my stuff from Fidelity (401k of previous employer) on Wednesday to move it to a new managing company that will manage it as an IRA.

Americans love their trucks and their suburbans, good luck trying to find a place to park those in Europe. Also they don't have to cater to the UAW, Musk knows, every foreign country that opens a plant does so in the southeast so they don't have to deal with unions.

This what is frustrating for me about a lot of this dialogue. A lot of people talking about free trade carving out the working class and manufacturing are from the Midwest. Yes, it's happened in the Midwest because it's moved to the South where they don't have suffocating unions and poorly run urban areas. The Midwest does not equal the United States.
