They have to already have something, but if Trump does something else that carries more gravitas they will just add it to the top of the list.

I decided over a year ago that I was going to do my best to just enjoy watchin people on both sides of the aisle lose their minds for this presidential cycle. I knew that if I got sucked into either hating everything that Trump did/does or into defending everything he did/does I would just get exhausted and probably have a heart attack. Sitting back and just enjoying the show is pretty okay.

Jon Stewart made a point on one of his recent monologues that others have been saying for some time: that if Media continue freaking out about EVERYTHING TRUMP DOES then the masses of reasonable-minded people that might constitute a majority and get up in arms if Trump does something truly egregious, are just going to tune them out like the boy who cried wolf. This is my prediction. All the stuff he is doing is either within his power or adjacent. He is willing to chance the courts deciding whether it is in his power just to test the controls. I think the media needs to temper themselves and wait for the "big one" he tries to slip through so that we don't need to try to decipher whether they are "extra-outraged" or just "regular-outraged."
most comes out in the wash except for prices going up and high unemployment. Trump is trying hard to deliver on both with tariffs but a few people are getting in his ear enough to get him to delay

    • Aaaand Trump delayed the Mexico tariffs for another month. It would be more hilarious if these jolts didn't have real economic consequences.

I would expect the Canadian ones to follow tomorrow. He's still butthurt that they're not becoming the 51st state, so he's going to make them nervous a little while longer.

      • I’ve always liked the fact that 401k accounts are so tied to the market that it would force any president to be moderate in terms of economic stupidity. I still believe that and it’s why I’m confident that if this tariff stupidity continues there will be a blue wave in 2026 like you’ve never seen. People don’t care much about issues like abortion or the border when their retirement accounts are getting pummeled.
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Promising a glorious future marked by limitless prosperity for the East Asian nation, President Donald Trump outlined a bold vision Tuesday night for a golden age of China. “Under my leadership, a prosperous new era of Chinese dominance will begin, the likes of which have never been seen before,” Trump said in an address to a joint session of Congress, insisting that China, finally unbridled from the foreign policy of former President Joe Biden, would reach its full potential and claim its rightful place as an unmatched global powerhouse. “Mark my words, the People’s Republic will be the envy of the world. That I can assure you. As long as I’m in charge, nothing will stand in China’s way. My newly implemented tariffs will spur China to be more self-sufficient, stable, and affluent going forward. Believe me when I say we’re going to make China a lot of money.” Trump went on to state that people he had talked to were already calling it the second Ming dyn

How long does this go on before even the Trumpers have had enough, I have taken a major hit this since Trump became President. The market was overheated and I expected a dip but his has gone beyond that.

Also the manufacturers are doing it how they are now because it is efficient and at the lowest cost for all concerned. That's what free trade does. Forcing aspects of the process to change now is unlikely to make it better. Keep in mind that Trump gave an extension on cars not because of what Canada said but because the automakers who have operations on both sides don't want this.
I'm not really a fan of the tariffs on Canada. However, I believe this is a short-term situation instigated by Trump to force Canada to help curtail illegal immigrants coming through the Canadian border and gain more tariff reciprocity with Canada. Canada will blink sooner rather than later.

President Trump said on Thursday that he would allow both Mexico and Canada to avoid tariffs on most exports to the United States for one month, saying he would exempt products that are traded under the rules of the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement, the trade pact he signed in his first term.

                    • Today, regarding two astronauts on the ISS, Trump declared "I've authorized Elon a week ago, I said 'you know we have 2 people up there that Biden and Kamala left up there' and he knows it very well and I said 'Are you equipped to gee them,' he said 'yeah.' He's got a Starship, they're preparing it right now, so Elon is going to go up and get them. Should I go on the journey, just to be on the ship when we stop?"

Source, starting at about the 44:00 mark: https://www.c-span.org/program/white...-orders/656830

Slightly more recent than that statement: Musky's Starship took off and lost communication. An unscheduled rapid disassembly resulted in flaming debris grounding flights in Florida.

                      Oh, what might have been.

Not the same ship. Elon talked about the rescue in the recent Rogan podcast. He stated that the Biden administration played politics with the rescue and wouldn't authorize Space X to do it. Trump has given it the greenlight. There's quite a bit of info on it if you work the Google Machine.

I am aware. Trump may not be. The reference to Starship was directly from his mouth. Also, Elon lies about the entire ISS situation. So, there's that, too.

                            • Hmm, despite the extension for another month on some imports, 62% of goods from Canada and 50% from Mexico are subject to the tariffs now. That should be enough for a lot of prices to still go up.
