Nothing as awesome as Tedbot. Just a humble voice in the wilderness.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Codename Krasnov.

We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

One could argue that yes, that is Trump's goal. And he is an idiot and likely compromised.Originally posted by Moliere View Post

Better to part of the freedom-loving group, sharing intelligence and defense strategy to counter bad actors in the world, than alone and outside that group and possibly even aligned with those bad actors.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

I don’t like the way Trump is doing it, but Europe needs to invest in their own defense and stop being stupid in terms of energy policy. I find it funny the Germans are now just realizing they can’t totally bank on the USA to be their shield anymore. The rest of the world (China) is catching up (or has caught up) so it’s time to stop dumping money everywhere in the hopes of the soft power actually working, because it’s not really working.Originally posted by myboynoah View Post

The Russian invasion of Ukraine begat more European investment in defense and they have outpaced U.S. support to Ukraine. Trump 2 has them even more committed.Originally posted by Moliere View Post

Like I said, better to be in the club with a goodwill account than outside with VP Hillbilly making dumb dumb speeches. Cooperation that could have been expected now must be gained at a price. Trump tariffs will drive the nail even deeper.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

Moli,I think this is a misperception of events. Our security is linked to our allies. We don't just caretake them out of the goodness of our hearts, but because it serves our interests. I agree certain nations need to step up more in certain arenas. But in terms of intelligence sharing, access to territory, joint diplomacy etc, this has been part of why we have been secure. It's been part of the reason we've can respond militarily they way we have in the past. Trump humiliating them isn't helpful and also isn't sincere. It's downright harmful.Originally posted by Moliere View Post

The rise of a German Party with ties (this is not made up) to the Nazis, and strong affinity for Russia, isn't funny, it's chilling, and yet another wake up call that will go unacknowledged and dismissed as hysteria. Not a coincidence that Musk has been propping them up and cheerleading them.
I don't understand how you come to the conclusion soft power isn't working. What do you base that on? Trump has been disrupting that for a reason. He has set us back probably decades, and you can ask MBN, .

Frank makes an excellent point. Too many people have bought into the Trump message that "all these countries are just freeloading off the U.S. defense infrastructure." That's just wrong. Our allies have given us access to land to locate our forward operating forces and help pay for us being there. They also stepped forward when we needed them (Iraq, Afghanistan, policing Somali pirates, counter terrorism, etc.). They also work cooperatively in intelligence to help us have a much better picture of what is happening across the oceans that we would have otherwise. Our whole worldwide economic system operates as efficiently as it does because of this cooperation. So let's not believe Trump's lies.
And that has been destroyed in terms of Europe and we will be weaker for it. Just waiting on our Asian alliances to fall as well.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

Is there reason to be concerned that Elon Musk gaining access to so much sensitive governnment and personal information could put him in prime position to pull off a massive "ransomware" type threat or attack against the US? Hand me the country or I burn everything to the ground in your financial and IT infrastructure...

Most UN votes turn out to be meaningless. If Trump had to save face and still play kissy kissy to Putin, couldn't we have just abstained voting?Originally posted by BlueK View Post

Your bare assertions do not make it so. Maybe your reasoning is too stunted and your vocabulary is too limited to go without these epithets."

Didn't we use to have a tin foil hat emoji on this board? Ok, so that's beneath him because he's too good of a person, or just technically too difficult to pull off? Bad actors pull off ransomware attacks all the time.Originally posted by BigFatMeanie View Post
