I'm hazy on this, but I think Shumer supported a bill in 2013 that would have repealed the diversity immigration act Trump is blaming Shumer for. It passed in the Senate but died in the GOP-controlled House. It's also interesting that Trump's travel ban would have had no effect on yesterday's tragedy, even if it had been in place years ago when the guy came to the U.S.

Uzbekistan's leadership is strongly anti-Muslim, so much so that it is apparently radicalizing Uzbeki Muslims within and outside that country, including yesterday's perp. So by all means, Donald, let's follow the Uzbeki example and do what can to alienate Muslims here as well.

I think Drumpf was referring to Congressman Chuck Schumer (1990 vintage) and not Senator Shumer.

Anecdotally, I have some Uzbek clients that originally came on the diversity visa. I have to shush him b/c he loudly and profanely rants in his thick Russian accent about how much he hates ***&^% Muslims. "That's great, man can you STFU now before you end my career?"
