This gag order resembles those issued by the Bush administration, belying vows by the Obama administration of government transparency.

In a January 26, 2010 e-mail to employees, Kate Goodrich-Arling, the Public and Legislative Affairs Officer for the Monongahela National Forest, states:

“Partly due to the increased scrutiny surrounding ARRA [the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act] work and partly due to a relatively new administration, we remain under strict instructions for talking with the media. So, a reminder: If you receive media calls that fall under the following categories you cannot talk to the reporter, but should instead get their contact info and get in touch with me: 1. contacts by a member of the national media on ANY subject 2. contacts by a local or regional reporter seeking information about a national issue including policy and budget issues.”

That memo sounded like a PR strategy to make sure the Forest Service spokesperson handled all media requests. Still, it was shady then and it's shady now.

And nothing solves those problems like a gag order, right?

There is no such thing as a gag order in the world of wikileaks.

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

              • People should identify the appointments that they believe are good, middle of the road and horrific. Furthermore, do you believe you'd be happier with the appointments Hillary would have made?

I am by no means a Trump fan, far from it as he is uncouth, a bully and his tweeting drives me nuts, but

he appears to be cutting government employment
                making energy an issue
                making a few good appointments,
                making some okay appointments
and may be making some losers.

I am not on board with his immigration policy nor his efforts that might start a trade war, but I am playing the wait and see.

I do support beefing up the military

I don't know about his proposed Supreme Court potential nominees.

I don't like his PR Baghdad Bob approach.

I trust Speaker Ryan won't make cutting Planned Parenthood a priority, because the Democratic base does not need to be more energized.

Would we be just as pissed off if Hillary were in? Probably so, except perhaps different persons would be pissed off for different reasons. Lots of reasons to be concerned, but are there good signs as well?

                Eliminating regulations has its appeal.

Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

                • Which of these potential nominees is he likely to choose?

                  Thomas Hardiman
                  Diane Sykes
                  Neil Gorsuch
                  or William Pryor?

I would oppose Pryor because of his lack of respect for precedent and desire to overturn Roe v. Wade.

A media blackout/gag order from a president who has a well-documented history of being adversarial towards science? Absolutely I think that's crazy.

Agreed. His anti-science bent really concerns me.

Wow, didn't realize this was a "gag order" on all of science.

Not crazy at all. In fact, very normal. EPA is part of the executive branch and will serve to implement Trump's policies. Frankly, it's only prudent for Executive Branch agencies to refrain from official public communications until their new bosses are in place and can drive the messaging as should be expected. But it is NYT reporting, so the alarmist tint isn't surprising.

As Obama said so often, elections have consequences.

So sad that people didn't Write in Mitt!!!

Yep. It's a temporary order that is expected to be lifted by the weekend. Seems pretty benign

Why? The left claims it doesn't happen and they often cite to the fact that there are very few voter fraud charges that have ever stuck. What is usually ignored is the fact that very few investigations actually occur due to the cost to enforce a single voter fraud action and that actual evidence of voter fraud sufficient to level charges can be difficult to obtain. The left should be all about ensuring voter fraud isn't occurring based on all the whining they have been doing over the last 2 months.

Stories like this one are extremely concerning:

NPR was saying this morning that this was SOP. Expect it to be lifted soon, once policies were in place.
