He is going to ride this conviction for all its worth, and the primary voters are going to love him for it. His immediate political career won’t end until/if he’s in jail. And he’ll still be supported afterwards any conviction.

The indictment is a quick and interesting read and I now expect Trump's political career is over, although watching him tear the house down on his way out will be fascinating. Among the indictment's highlights are several quotes from Trump during his first campaign and later about how terribly others have handled confidential information (see, e.g., paragraphs 22 and 38 of the indictment0 and how he would do much better. He did worse. Unless the audiotapes and written statements by others prove to be false, Trump is manifestly guilty of serious wrongdoing.

A side note, I've always enjoyed (and vomited because of) Trump's garish decorating sense. He's like a Louis XIV fever dream. He thinks that the more gold and filigree one can add to a room, the better. and too much never is enough. He's a human Charlie the Tuna. And I loved the picture (paragraph 28) of the shower room where confidential documents were held. Note the elaborate chandelier hanging over the shitter. Every bathroom should have one.

On CNN Chris Christie just gave an incredibly powerful and eloquent rebuke of Trump through his analysis of all the important points in the indictment. It was something else.

I listened to a podcast last year where Tony Gilroy, one of the writer's of the Devil's Advocate, was interviewed. He talked about how they used Trump's apartment to film the scenes of the devil's residence. It was hilarious:

We needed the ugliest, most garish, horrifying real-estate developer apartment we could possibly find, and Trump threw his apartment at us. We didn’t have to [do anything]. Kari Lake spoke last night the Georgia Republicans and further fanned the flames.

"If you want to get to President Trump, you're going to have to go through me and you're going to have to go through 75 million Americans just like me," Lake said, to raucous applause. Most of those Trump voters, she pointedly added, are "card-carrying members" of the National Rifle Association. "That's not a threat. That's a public service announcement," she said. "We will not let you lay a finger on President Trump. Frankly, now is the time to cling to our guns and our religion."

Guns and Trump are their religion. Vile. Imagine if there were transcripts of Biden or Obama saying this things Trump said about the documents, or if any liberal or moderate politician had done the things Trump is accused of doing. History will not judge these people kindly.
