And save me the DeSantis/Ducey/Hogan/Asa, BS, those dudes disqualified themselves by sitting by and campaigning with election deniers and couldn’t bring themselves to vote for rational democrats against full blown Trump backed crazies.
I hear you brother. This repub party needs to die.
    Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

    • You guys keep looking past the big picture here. Trump will never win another election. It's just a matter of how much of the party he burns down on the way out.

      • Trump loses in appeals court. Not a surprise, even with two of the three judge panel being Trump appointees.

How am I missing the big picture? That's the obvious outcome. I just think people should throw gas on it while he burns it down.

          • Ho hum…. Trump now calling for the outright suspension of the US Constitution.

Can’t wait to hear what Mr. constitutional expert Mike Lee has to say about it!

            • That was my thought as well when I read that.

Plus, I hope Mitt is saddling up that white horse.

Hey Mike, he isn't Capt. Moroni, he's Amalackiah or any of the others who tricked people into believing they needed to trash their system and make him a king.

In LDS circles I would think a politician explicitly coming out against the Constitution would be a deal breaker. But we'll see if it moves the needle at all with very many.

This poll was prior to his anti-constitution post, but it shows that 6 out of 10 Utahns have an unfavorable opinion of Trump.

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah voters might be ready to move on from Donald Trump.

The former president didn't fare well in a new Deseret News/Hinckley Institute of Politics poll, even among Republicans. In fact, he finished third in a field of potential 2024 GOP presidential candidates, including one of his biggest critics in Congress.

Also, 6 in 10 Utahns overall have an unfavorable impression of Trump, though he does a little better with Republicans.
If the Republican presidential primary were held today, only 14.6% of Utahns would vote for the former president.

                  • Could there have been a worse response from a supposedly "centrist" Republican?

Joyce ultimately said that Trump's comment should be taken "in context" but that it wouldn't prevent him from supporting Trump if he ends up winning the nomination. Well, you know, he says a lot of things,"

                    Yeah, no biggie.

                    • So bizarre, no actually not in this universe's repub party, but in a normal era, that a candidate for president that has a good chance of being on the ballot says that about THE CONSTITUTION OF THE USA and repubs are silent, or making "ah, he says a lot of things" excuses.

I think Trump floats this type of crap out there in order to desensitize his followers and allies to how vile he is. Prime cult leader strategy.

How many times did he do this during his presidency?

Say something absolutely crazy, the normal GOP people would say, I didn’t see it, or president says lots of stuff, or I focus on his policies not his tweets, and a week later would be on a Sunday show proclaiming how great he is!

Another opportunity to put the nail in the coffin of his political career that will go ignored, white washed and justified by the baseball crank and NR in 3 weeks.

                        • My prediction?

People like AA and USUC (conservative intelligentsia) will say:

He didn’t technically call for the constitution to be suspended and it doesn’t help when democrats and their partners in the media use such heated rhetoric when talking about the former POTUS. And why do we care about Trump? Inflation is out of control and we should’ve been able to see Hunter Bidens crank on twitter. This is why it’s good that the GOP won the House so we can get to the bottom of why right wing voices are silenced and left wing transgender policies are amplified!

Yes Trump says a lot of things. But what any idiot can figure out if they've been paying attention is that despite the lies and all the nonsense, Donald Trump still ALWAYS SAYS WHAT HE MEANS. He lies because he means the lie and likes it better than the truth. He doesn't lie about what he wants to actually do. And he said this in the same week he hosted an avowed Neo Nazi. If the Republican Party as a whole isn't immediately condemning Trump's words when he says right out in the open that he wants to trash the Constitution, then no single Republican at any level deserves my vote until this changes. It's not ok. And it's not ok for US Senators and members of the House and the GOP national leadership not to speak against this statement in no uncertain terms. There is zero valid defense of this. Trump is not some random dude no one really knows. He's a freaking former president of the US who wants that position again and is clearly indicating he wants to take it back even if the votes are not there. That's dangerous. I'm sick of the freaking passive and even active by some in the GOP, embrace of fascism.

                            • This is a huge gift to the democrats. I mean, he didn’t have a prayer before, but this is the nail in the coffin.

                              • Trump has come out virtually unscathed after so many death knells have rung, I refuse to accept it until he has lost the RNC nomination.

I absolutely hope is political career is over, but I'm not going to give into my wishful thinking.
