Imagine being someone 1 month ago and wanting this guy to be the Senate Majority Leader?

Imagine being someone 1 month ago and wanting Kevin McCarthy, a guy who is going to put Gosar and MGT on important committees even though they have met and spoke at Fuentes’ white nationalist conventions, to be the House Majority Leader?

If you had to pick between Kevin McCarthy and MTG, who would you pick?

You can't cop out and answer "neither". You have to pick one.

McCarthy and it’s not even close, but….

Where was Mitch with his, the GOP doesn’t suffer antisemitism 7 months ago?

When MTG is raising millions they don’t mind it.

This is why Trump is going to steam roll again, he’s going to start raising millions from small dollar donors, Pence and DeSantis are going to split the ‘main stream’ GOP vote and after a couple of state wins with 30-40% of the vote, they’ll all rally around him again and USUC will tell us it’s because liberals bad that he and his family are forced to vote for Trump again.

This is a real possibility. I listened to Whit Ayres on Bill Kristol's podcast. He says the repub party is 35-40% always Trump, 10% never Trump, and the rest will tolerate Trump, even though they may prefer someone else. He pointed out that many repub primaries are winner-take all, so even if Trump doesn't get the majority of the vote, he'll still get the delegates. Especially if, like you point out, other candidates split that never Trump and tolerate Trump vote. Trump controls the party at the national level and even at many state levels.

Repubs are still running scared or still value some kind of promise of power to doing the right thing.
          Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I think they'll pay for it in a couple years at the polls again.

No way trump wins an election. If he is nominated, they lose.

And not just lose the presidential election, but that bleeds over into Congressional seats as well.

Absolutely. Which is why I’m not convinced that Trump still has as much power as people are claiming. People in the party recognize that he is a sinking ship.

The GOP tried to rally against him in the 2016 primary. I remember the remaining candidates making a push to have “the establishment” get voted for in certain states in an effort to keep trump from getting a majority and eventually the nomination. Unfortunately they were way too late and trump won.

There is clearly a concerted effort to nip this thing in the bud from the start. Murdoch publications have gone after him. Top leaders are taking unveiled shots at him. They all know that a Trump nomination would sink the Repubs from top to bottom of the ticket. They just want to do it without disenfranchising his followers too much…which is a political play.

This is very rational. Republicans are not rational. Didn't the last 6 years prove that?

There are 185 safe Republican seats and 15 heavily lean GOP seats.

In the senate there are 40 safe GOP senate slots and 4 heavily lean GOP seats.

The GOP has a distinct congressional advantage over the next 10 years.

They’ve insulated themselves from true political pain. Until the party is eradicated of the Trump boot lickers (which is 95% of the conference) or McDonalds finally gets Trump we are stuck in this political hellscape.

The Murdochs went after him in 2015.

The GOP establishment went after him in 2015-2016.

They tried to jump ship after the pussy tape and a mere 4 years later Mike Lee was comparing him to Moroni.

                            GTFO.

The party is Trump and Trumpism. White grievance and own the libs politics.

Two things I have concluded since the dawn of Trump, polls are horribly inaccurate, and republicans will never to the right thing, even when the right thing is obvious. So, as to Trump and the Republicans being done, I will believe it when I see it.

They'll struggle to get a majority. If Trump wins the nomination, I'm calling a Democrat hat trick.
