So glad we had a congressional hearing to prove it out. It’s this type of stuff that will surely help the Dems defeat trump!"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

That’s an odd remark.Originally posted by Moliere View PostSo glad we had a congressional hearing to prove it out. It’s this type of stuff that will surely help the Dems defeat trump!
You’re always so adversarial and coupling that with a stubborn reluctance to criticize Trump, you wonder why people accuse you of being an apologist.

I'm not a fan of Ben Carson by any stretch, but I know that a little consideration for our opponents is desperately needed in our country.Originally posted by frank ryan View PostAlso likely he is not qualified for his job nor is he interested in the details of it.
He didn’t know what they meant, that was obvious. We all trust our own unorthodoxies.

I just think it’s funny that the Dems continue to do the same thing they’ve always done but they expect different results. I don’t know what calling Carson out is going to do for anyone. If the goal is to show the incompetence of the Trump admin, they are succeeding. If the goal is to beat Trump in 2020, they are failing. They are simply proving Trump’s platform stance that government sucks and is too bloated. I bet Trumpsters are excited to see Carson not give a rip as too who is in the OMWI or other government mandated dog and pony shows.Originally posted by frank ryan View PostThat’s an odd remark.

I think the congresswomen are probably fatigued from dealing with him and to explain basic things to him years in to his administration.Originally posted by Sleeping in EQ View PostI'm not a fan of Ben Carson by any stretch, but I know that a little consideration for our opponents is desperately needed in our country.

OMWI is an executive in his office. The congresswomen emphasized its importance in an earlier hearing and he comes back and is clueless. I don’t blame her for being frustrated.Originally posted by Moliere View PostI just think it’s funny that the Dems continue to do the same thing they’ve always done but they expect different results. If Trump’s base hasn’t eroded over all the bullshit he has already pulled its not going to any further. If the election is free come the shenanigans that happened in 16. Voter purges. Polling places being moved last minute and less polling places in minority areas, as well as all out cheating such as in North Carolina, and if we better protect our voting infrastructure, I think he loses.
It’s close either way.

Congressional hearings are grandstanding bullshit. That goes for both parties. Look, I think Ben Carson is probably incompetent. One of my favorite moments of the 2016 campaign was when he got stuck backstage during the Republican debate introductions because he didnt hear the announcer say his name. But to me these clips are just like any other congressional hearing: the member of Congress has an army of staff writing up talking points and gotcha statements to try to make the opposing witness look as bad as possible. Then they get to hide behind a mic and a nameplate and pretend to be virtuous and outraged, but if they were ever in the witness chair they would look as bad or worse because they have no real skills other than political posturing. The whole thing is revolting political theater.Originally posted by frank ryan View PostI think the congresswomen are probably fatigued from dealing with him and to explain basic things to him years in to his administration.

You sure about that?Originally posted by Moliere View PostThere is no OMWI office in hud.
https://thehill.com/homenews/adminis...clusion-officeCarson appeared confused by Beatty’s line of questioning and told her he would follow up with a note identifying the director of the office. But as Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-N.Y.) noted when he spoke at the hearing, Carson’s office does not contain OMWI.
“I just want to point out the reason why you wouldn’t recognize the term OMWI in HUD is that HUD doesn’t have OMWI,” Zeldin said.
He added that under the Dodd-Frank Act several agencies were required to create an OMWI, but HUD was not one of the government agencies or departments tasked with doing so.
HUD does, in fact, have an Office of Diversity and Inclusion that is under Carson’s watch."...you pointy-headed autopsy nerd. I’m just being a jackass. I can see why he wouldn’t know OMWI since there is no such thing in HUD. However, I can also see how he wouldn’t know it given that he seems as dumb as a brick.Originally posted by Northwestcoug View PostOh now I see

I'd replace "in our country" with "everywhere", assume there is some signal in every communication, even if it's 98% noise. Benefit of the doubt and all of that.
