It is a very large pool. And if the pool was deep, or the peroxide had been distributed evenly, you would not expect much, if any, damage. Neither are the case.

The peroxide was added directly into the edges of a shallow pool, where it promptly sank to the bottom, mostly still at 12% concentration (120,000 parts per million), and hit the liner. At 12% concentration, it can absolutely cause delamination.

When you add chemicals to a swimming pool that have the possibility of damaging a liner, it is absolutely essential that they are added in front of a pool return, or in some other manner that prevents the chemical from just sitting there. The return flow immediately distributes and dilutes the chemicals so they never hit a susceptible material at full-strength. By design, the reflecting pool doesn't have plumbing that could create surface ripples.

It's also possible that the no-bid contractor did scrappy prepwork.

That water is circulating. There's no way it's sitting at a 12% concentration. It would also take a decent amount of time to damage poly. I used to shock my old hot tub that I refurbished with a solution that was heavy on hydrogen peroxide. It would have been a much higher concentration than what existed in the reflection pool.

I'm not buying the hydrogen peroxide argument. I doubt anyone who sells or works with industrial coatings would either.

I'm not saying the reflecting pool as a whole was at 12%. Even to get 30 ppm, you were looking at around 8,000 liters of peroxide to do that. I'm saying that locally, in the spots they poured the peroxide, there was very little circulation because the pool is designed not to have a lot of circulation. The water is filtered and treated away from the pool itself, and introduced in a manner that avoids a lot of active circulation in the reflecting pool, because the point of the pool is to have a still surface. The peroxide they added would have diluted slowly. Those spots would have relatively high ppms of peroxide compared to areas farther away from the introduction. And the spots where they introduced it were only 18 inches deep. And they kept adding bottle of peroxide in the same spot, increasing the ppm of peroxide in that spot and compounding the issue.

in all seriousness. After reading Shaka’s post on this, it seems to be more related to the work of this guy. And seeing this pop-up makes me even more convinced.

This no-bid contracts to fill the pockets of his buddies pisses me off. He should be skewered for this and I hope more investigative journalism is done in this area to reveal this shit.

He looks like an actor in an SCTV comedy sketch about a sleazebag; John Candy could have played him. At least his company, Greenwater Services, can't be sued for false advertising.

                  • Since the Trump admin was the latest in Tulsi Gabbard’s long strange political arc I suppose this thread is the best place to drop this insanity.

what if I were to tell you that Gabbard’s national political career was closely monitored and guided by a recluse hindu cult leader and his minions? Would some of her weird political evolution make more sense? Well, read the receipts:

weren’t Walter and a couple of others here big Tulsi fans? I wonder if they’d like to rethink that support since it seems that some of her policies and party affiliations came as directives from a cult leader.

We discussed her cult affiliation during her campaign for president.

Yeah, I remember that but it's worth revisiting. It's pretty interesting.

But the evidence that her policy pronouncements were directed by the cult leader is new info isn’t it? If not I missed it.

It's a lot more concerning than how it was framed when it came up before. But there are definitely Tulsi fans here. I remember pushback when I said she was playing a grifting game and was helpful the right.
