As stated above UFC isn't my thing but it's still just a sport. Most of my friends enjoy it. As I've watched clips of the event, I found there was. a lot more to it than just the UFC stuff. Pastrana had his Nitro Circus crew out performing, the flyover was spectacular Zac Brown did the National Anthem, and the US Marine Band played the walkout music. I find most of that entertaining. As stated previously, it looked like it was well done and a good time.

I suppose we could debate the appropriateness of hosting the event at the White House, but I don't think having it there was a big deal. I certainly think that the comparison to ancient Rome is ridiculous. Much ado about nothing.

I do believe that is the actual point, which you seemed to have just glossed over. The comparison to Rome is flimsy of course, except for the idea of the world's most powerful leader hosting a fight between professional fighters for his birthday (and America's, but c'mon - this is for Trump). We haven't done anything like that in the USA, ever - as far as I am aware. If you are cool with the bread and circus (and plenty of people are, both now and then), no big deal. If you are not a fan of it, it might be a bigger deal.

I do find it hilarious that the fighters were warming up in various rooms in the White House -- including the Oval Office!! -- before the match. I guess there's no gym in the WH, and Trump certainly isn't trying to build one. He might be trying to build a McDonald's on property, sort of like how Devante Adams has a Taco Bell in his house.

Its just the euphemism treadmill at work. Happens everyday. You can roll your eyes, but if you use the terms "restroom" or "bathroom" instead of "toilet" (which itself was a euphemism for the pejorated term "privy") you are part of the cycle.

Un-housed is just the next homeless, until un-housed becomes too unpalatable. Language at work.
