This is pretty spot on, especially this note about the damage to the U.S. reputation and how long it will take to get it back. This really is a scorched earth policy. Even if Trump draws back, the damage is done. The uncertainty will kill us.

    Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

What just happened? The markets went temporarily into the green and then sharply fell again back to near down 1000 pts on the Dow.

Edit: it appears there was a rumor of a 90-day pause (likely per Ackman's suggestion above), but then debunked.

I’ve thought of that but was deterred by the fact that I’d be praying for the coronation of President Vance. 2015 Vance, okay; 2025 edition no thanks.

Oh ye of little faith. I'm "stacking" my prayers.

            EU calling Trump's bluff.

This would be a good deal for all.

That's because they no longer exist. People who were close to retiring a week ago no longer are.

And it's absolutely a bluff on Trump's part as we'll find out soon enough

On the upside, it’s a buyers market right now. Not all of us were prescient enough to sell last week, like half of congress did.

That's not calling a bluff. If they were doing that they would stand pat or even increase tariffs. This is capitulation.

I don't think so. I find it hard to believe the EU is very protectionist right now anyway. Going to zero tariffs is a shorter step for them than for Trump to abandon his deep love for tariffs. Nothing will happen for that reason. They are saying fine, we'll go to zero if you do and Trump will say no, you still suck.

I think you're right. Trump is more likely to claim we need a 20% tariff to their 0% to make up for all the years they've been RIPPING US OFF!!!!!
