At this point it is clear that we only know one thing with certainty about Vance... he is a gigantic asshole.Originally posted by All-American View Post

I am sympathetic to his view that Europe has freeloaded long enough. I don't like how he has approached it though.
On everything else he just has bad policy ideas. Add being an asshole on top of it and i think too many bridges will be burnt for a viable future.

I think we pretty much agree. I know that politicians and even most of us stretch the truth in life. Many times our lies are those of omission, especially politicians, or lies of "interpretation." But the Hillbilly is especially egregious in his prevarications. They are bold and pointed, and as noted by others, he is very good at it, not showing any shame. That whole Haitian refugee episode was instructive as he openly admitted it and told us he did it because it was to his advantage. How can we trust anything he says or trust his intentions? No remorse. No shame. Just the lies. And in most cases, the lies are about the most vulnerable in our society. He chooses to pick on people where the power dynamic is in his favor. Today's behavior on twitter is another egregious example.Originally posted by Copelius View Post
I agree that lying to make political points, especially when admitting to it afterwards and trying to justify your actions, is deplorable. However, if you do not equally condemn both sides when they do it, you are not serious about political ethics. Not speaking directly to you MBN, just making a point because many of those who are condemning Vance, celebrated Harry Reid's comment justifying his lies about Romney. (First example I could think of) And in like manner, many who condemned Reid for his shennanigans, are celebrating Vance.
I wish that a politician lying was an automatic disqualifier, but then there would be nobody to vote for.
He is a gigantic asshole (as noted) and the worst of humankind.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Exactly. He's already made his bed. He chose TRUMP because he could advance JD's path, not because Trump was the moral choice. JD Vance is nothing but an opportunist D-bag.Originally posted by myboynoah View PostAin't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Good fucking hell. At the same time, not surprising.
Waltz and staff used Gmail for government communications, officials say
Aside from the security implications, this allows them to keep their government activity and discussions on private servers, thus easily avoiding FOIAs and maintaining records (as required by law).A senior Waltz aide used the commercial email service for highly technical conversations with colleagues at other government agencies involving sensitive military positions and powerful weapons systems relating to an ongoing conflict, according to emails reviewed by The Post. While the NSC official used his Gmail account, his interagency colleagues used government-issued accounts, headers from the email correspondence show.
Waltz has had less sensitive, but potentially exploitable information sent to his Gmail, such as his schedule and other work documents, said officials, who, like others, spoke on thecondition of anonymity to describe what they viewed as problematic handling of information. The officials said Waltz would sometimes copy and paste from his schedule into Signalto coordinate meetings and discussions.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

It should be no surprise that this administration is gong this far with tariffs (we'll see if they keep them relatively modest compared to the bloviations of Trump) as that is what he campaigned on. But it is shocking because all historical evidence points to them being destructive. Their philosophy is based entirely on magical thinking. To Peter Navaro, they are anything you want them to be, even if his stated reasons contradict each other. As far as economic policy goes, there is no one in a position of influence to give counter weight. They are all magical thinkers. Vance, Don Jr, Navaro, Lutnick, ect. And I fully expect this team to start using the progressive playback of claiming price gouging by businesses with a mix of everyone disagreeing is "un-American." Sigh.

I don't know about, "by far the most talented." He is bright for sure but presents very awkwardly and often insincerely.Originally posted by All-American View Post

He is in some less likeable than Trump because Trump is obviously self-obsessed and morally compromised. Vance has capable of having a moral framework but made a decision to sell out his values for power. And I don't believe every candidate, Republican or Democrat is as craven as Vance

I subjectively don't think he stood out or was impressive.
