The integralist catholics make up a large portion of the Christian nationalist movement. They may not be representative of all catholics, but I would say they power the majority of the intellectual direction of the movement. I think a lot of the evangelicals in the movement are more reactionary and populist. Just yokels.

Trump has some leeway with this type of stuff and can maybe get away with the blame game for a little while longer. But he's setting himself up for some major backlash as prices will undoubtedly go up due to his immigration and tarrif policies. He can't bullshit his way out high prices.

Didn't he promise that Day One prices would go down, and didn't he just issue an Executive Order to that effect?

Look, that tweet will come out again in years two, three, and four.
            Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

            • I’m shocked, shocked, that Israel would run with the green light Trump gave them with the resettlement program that no Middle East country is going to accept.

"The new Gaza war will be different in intensity from the one before the ceasefire, and it will not end without the defeat of Hamas and the release of all the hostages. It will also allow the realisation of US President (Donald) Trump's vision for Gaza," Katz said, referring to Trump's plan for the US to take over the Palestinian territory and permanently displace the people living there.

Well, he ended the Ukraine conflict on day one like promised. Right? Right?

Day 1 of when he wants to it to end. He hasn't started working on it yet.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Let's not give him credit on that issue. He basically is playing into what Putin wants.

I am very pro Ukraine and very anti Putin. But Ukraine regaining 2014 borders just isn't feasible. The stalemate isn't sustainable given that Ukraine values human life more than Putin. Ukraine has resisted drafting their young men as they know their future post war rests on them. Ukraine has lost Crimea. I hope that Ukraine can retain a lot of the rest they have lost. Ukraine needs binding security assurances and economic ties with the west.

Russia will come out of this worse than they were before. They have lost so many men to battle. Their economy has stayed afloat because it's serving the war. Without the war, it'll be a disaster.

I too hope for all of that for Ukraine (which is the minimum of what it should get), but I am not confident that it will end up being anything other than a vassal state to Russia.

When Ukraine gave up its nukes it was given some security guarantees and two of the parties who agreed to accept responsibility were Russia and US.

Trump just tried to shake down Ukraine for turning over precious elements in exchange for continuing aid. Trump is pushing Putin's terms. We are abandoning people who deserve to be free and have paid a high price in blood.

Ukraine has also unfairly been maligned by MAGA (Tucker Carlson being one of the worst offenders). From the get-go Trump was unhelpful. At the GOP primaries it was his supporters who pushed to have backing Ukraine as part of the GOP platform dropped.

Of course Trump's first campaign manager had just made most of his recent money supporting awful candidates on an international stage. That included the leader previous to Zelenskyy. Paul Manafort knew how to deliver what pleased Moscow.

Trump's servility to Russian sensitivities won't equate to more of peace, but more destabilization. I think within the next 18 mos or so you will see Moldova come risk of the Russian sword. Also, Bosnia-Herzegovina, which is already a fragile country, could be destabilized and potentially fracture. The Baltics are helpless without NATO and that one breaks my heart when I remember Lithuanians confronting Russian tanks as Communism was failing. They have already had some Russian incursion and sabotage within their borders.

This rewards Russian aggression and that saddens me. A castrated NATO, rendered so because of a supposed "America First," banner is awful for America and the world. NATO isn't something we do because we are a kind people. We are involved because it serves us and our allies. NATO isn't a colonizer. The conservatives who spouted that line were expressing foreign policy as naive as Noam Chomsky's.
