In my view the big story is the lack of turnout by Democrats, especially in those rust belt states. Vote totals will rise as all the votes are counted and finalized but Trump is going to probably get fewer total votes than Romney did 4 years ago. In Wisconsin for example Trump is currently a few hundred votes behind 2012 and 70K behind 2004 results. Meanwhile Hillary is running behind 08 Obama by 300-600k and 12 Obama by a couple 100k. Some are cross over voters but much of that is utter lack of enthusiasm for Hillary.

I'm not sure how many conclusions we should draw other than Hillary was a worse candidate than we thought with too much baggage. Running on an Obama 3rd term message while Obamacare rates skyrocket the month before the election also played a big factor IMO.

Anyway, not a Trump fan or supporter, but if he keeps his promise to deport all the snow Mexicans (google it) back to Canada and make them build a wall I think we'll all feel a lot better about this whole thing.

Dow closed over 250 points (1.4%) up. S&P and Nas both up 1.1%. Wasn't the Dow down 800 in after hours? I guess everyone expected Hillary to win.

The day after Obama was elected in 2008 the market fell 5.1% on the Dow, 5.3% on the S&P, and 5.5% on the Nasdaq. You damn republicans all control the market.

On Election Night, after voting, I took my mother to dinner (my father died later in 2015). She voted enthusiastically for Trump, and said she thought he would win this thing. I did not cast a presidential vote, because I couldn't bear either Trump or Hillary Clinton. But look, I told her, Clinton has this election won by a mile.

My mom is a widowed grandmother and former school bus driver who knows nothing about politics. Her son is a conservative pundit who writes about politics and culture for a Washington magazine. And yet - and yet! - the little old lady from the middle of nowhere got it right. For better or for worse, plain people like her just changed the history of the world.

Dear President Bednar,

It would seem the members of my district have lost faith in the system. What they don't realize is that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is "the system" and that they should never place their faith in a jerry-rigged political movement. I hope this distress is only temporary. Next district meeting I'll assign some talks to help all of the Elders cope with their new reality. I'm thinking Elder Lewbowski should speak on "holding to the iron rod in a time of confusion," and Elder Shaka can speak on "dating in the newest/new world order," and the keynote will be Elder PAC - "how I learned to stop worrying and love the bomb."

Personally, I used my vote (or the lack thereof) as a protest to the corrupt candidates. I couldn't hold my nose and vote for either, so I sold my vote to my sweet companion for a cheese omelette and a back rub. Not having a dog in the fight has giving me a sense of controlling my own destiny in the aftermath turbulence, and now I will be able to sit back and watch the drama as it unfolds. I hearken back to the mission newsletter 4 months ago where you quoted the last words of Ether: Whether the Lord will that I be translated, or that I suffer the will of the Lord in the flesh, it mattereth not, if it so be that I am saved in the kingdom of God. Amen.

I will use the angst of today as a personal starting point to buckle down and work even harder to bridge the great divide of the district, and anoint with a great healing balm the whole of us who need help from The Lord in our time of need. I'm thinking the Lords hand is in the great cause and His purposes will be pressed forward under this new paradigm.
