Bernie made over $2.79 million since 2016. Yikes, talk about a hypocrite. One might suspect he’s running again to earn more money.

I can see heads exploding already should this happen.“The advantage of first term incumbency and the relatively strong economic performance ahead of the presidential election suggest that President Trump is more likely to win a second term than the eventual Democratic candidate is to defeat him,” said Phillips and Blake.
Goldman Sachs currently predicts the U.S. economy will grow 2.5 percent this year and 2.3 percent in 2020, a pace that will be enough to push unemployment down to 3.3 percent next year from 3.7 percent this year.
Historically, Phillips and Taylor found variables such as employment and income are better indicators of an election result than market-based forces such as equity or oil prices. The performance of the economy in the second quarter of the election year is often a strong guide to the result, they said.
Honestly, all the Dems have to do is nominate someone - ANYONE - who seems just a little moderate and not crazy, and they are in. But somehow I just can't see them not tripping themselves up and messing this up somehow.

Hypocrite? I'm sure he is pumping all that money back into helping people in need, like running homeless shelters and such.Originally posted by Moliere View PostBernie made over $2.79 million since 2016. Yikes, talk about a hypocrite. One might suspect he’s running again to earn more money.
Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Uh, Bernie has never said he can't earn money. He's not Karl Marx. He's a Western European style social democrat.Originally posted by myboynoah View PostHypocrite? I'm sure he is pumping all that money back into helping people in need, like running homeless shelters and such.
I think the guy is running because he believes in his ideas. It's nice that he released his tax returns.Last edited by frank ryan; 04-16-2019, 04:17 PM.

He does say you shouldn't earn too much money, and that if you earn more you should be willing to give a greater share of it to the government for redistribution. But it appears the threshold is, as is most often the case with people taking these positions, somewhere above his own income level.Originally posted by frank ryan View PostUh, Bernie has never said he can't earn money. Which reminds me: why won't Trump release his taxes? Is it because of-course-everything-is-on-the-up-and-up-and-mind-your-own-business? I'm sure that must be it...Originally posted by frank ryan View PostUh, Bernie has never said he can't earn money. He's not Karl Marx. He's a Western European style social democrat.

One thing we know for sure, running for president has been very lucrative for Bernie. I can see why he does it.Originally posted by Commando View PostWhich reminds me: why won't Trump release his taxes? Is it because of-course-everything-is-on-the-up-and-up-and-mind-your-own-business? Maybe that’s why there are 20 or more currently in the race. It’s worse than the gop on the last go around.Originally posted by wapiti View PostOne thing we know for sure, running for president has been very lucrative for Bernie. The reason these Dems view Trump as vulnerable is because they live in a bubble.Originally posted by Moliere View PostMaybe that’s why there are 20 or more currently in the race. It’s worse than the gop on the last go around.
Trump is very likely to win, no? The economy is great. His base is rock solid in support of him. Trump is bulletproof in that it’s not like a gaffe or scandal can hurt him more than the gaffes and scandals that have already happened.
I think the odds of Trump winning are something like 70%. SJBH.

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/n...s-in-2013-2014Beto O’Rourke underpaid taxes in 2013, 2014
Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke and his wife, Amy, appear to have underpaid their taxes for two years, according to a new report.
The couple appear to have underpaid their 2013 and 2014 taxes by more than $4,000 because they made a mistake in the way they reported their medical expenses, according to an accountant who looked over the returns for the Wall Street Journal.
O’Rourke and his wife, who released their tax returns Monday, took medical expense deductions that were only permitted for medical and dental expenses above 10% of income for people their age. Their taxable income would have increased had they not taken nearly $16,000 in deductions.

Given the electoral system we have, it's not that hard to figure out that it probably depends on about three states right now, which are the same ones that mattered last time. In PA, Trump's numbers are not good. He also trails in WI and is neck and neck with most of the possible Dem candidates in MI. He needs all three if the dems can hold onto the same states they got last time. There is a lot of time left, but I wouldn't say either side has it in the bag right now and both sides have time to screw it up. Those who like Trump should hope he doesn't make good on his threat to close the border because that would seriously mess with the economy in a bad way.Originally posted by CardiacCoug View PostThe reason these Dems view Trump as vulnerable is because they live in a bubble.
