Amelioration. Its not negative enough anymore to do the job.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Just read through Roberts' opinion and a little bit of each of the concurring and dissenting opinions. I'm not going to read all 91 pages of Thomas' dissent, so maybe he makes some good points but I'll never know. I didn't see anything I disagreed with in the opinion of the court.

                        Lol. Frank.

While there were initially fervent denials that the sites were illegitimate, most of the sites he visited were indeed found to be fraudulent. And most have been shut down.

                        Gemini AI summary:

                        The "Learing Center" Exposure

The misspelled "Quality Learing Centers" sign in Shirley's video became a central focal point of the entire investigation. Shirley and his co-investigator David Hoch highlighted this specific facility, which was collecting large sums of taxpayer money under the Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) despite showing minimal operational activity. [1, 2]
                        • The Fallout: David Hoch later testified before the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee, stating that the sheer absurdity of the "Learing Center" was the "final straw" that forced lawmakers and federal agencies to bypass state-level denials and launch a deeper federal probe. State records showed the facility had pulled in roughly $1.9 million in public CCAP funds. [1, 2]

                        Criminal Charges and Proven Fraud

While early fact-checks claimed the daycares were legitimate because they held active licenses, subsequent federal actions proved otherwise: [1, 2]
                        • Future Leaders Early Learning: Shirley heavily featured this Minneapolis daycare. In May 2026, the federal government officially unsealed criminal charges against its CEO, Fahima Egeh Mahamud. Federal prosecutors revealed she stole $4.6 million from the CCAP daycare program and another $850,000 from federal meal programs by falsifying enrollment data and billing for nonexistent children. She was arrested after attempting to flee the country. [1, 3]
                        • Massive FBI & DHS Raids: In late April 2026, federal agents from the FBI and Department of Homeland Security executed coordinated search warrants at 22 different Twin Cities businesses and childcare centers directly tied to the welfare and childcare fraud ring exposed in the videos. [1, 2]

                        Why the Initial Story Flipped

The contradiction stems from a massive failure of state-level oversight. Minnesota's Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) initially defended the daycares and conducted brief "announced" daytime visits where they claimed children were present. However, subsequent U.S. House and Senate committee investigations revealed that state agencies had ignored repeated warnings and allowed heavily implicated centers to continue billing millions of dollars before federal prosecutors finally stepped in to shut them down. YouTuber Nick Shirley did not independently uncover or legally prove specific fraud cases himself, but his viral videos triggered major federal and state investigations into child care and social services programs. [1, 2]
                          The Viral Videos and Claims
In late December 2025, Shirley posted a 43-minute video on X (formerly Twitter) and YouTube purporting to expose over $100 million in fraud within child care centers in Minneapolis. Accompanied by a local lobbyist, he visited several daycares that appeared quiet, had their windows covered, or did not admit him when he knocked, claiming this was evidence of fake businesses siphoning taxpayer funds. He released a similar video targeting hospice, transportation, and daycare facilities in California in March 2026. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7]
                          Official Findings and Fact-Checks
Journalists and state regulators could not verify Shirley’s specific claims and challenged his methods. Authorities noted that: [1, 2]
                          • State checks: State investigators conducted unannounced visits at the featured Minneapolis daycares prior to the video's release and found them operating legally, with children present, and no evidence of fraud at those specific sites. [1, 2, 3]
                          • Daycare operations: Some daycares were closed when Shirley visited because they opened later in the day to accommodate second-shift workers, or refused entry to him and his film crew out of security concerns. [1, 2]
                          • Legitimate context: Many child care centers keep doors locked and windows covered to protect children from intruders and would not be visible from a reception area. [1, 2]

                          Impact and Government Crackdown
While Shirley's specific videos did not provide verified evidence of fraud, they served as a major catalyst for government action. His videos were widely shared by prominent figures, prompting federal agencies like the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security to increase their presence and investigations in Minnesota.

At best his "reporting" increased scrutiny of not just fraud but the entire Somali community. He didn't uncover the greatest fraud in the history of the country.

You need to brush up on your Google skills.

Yeah, the initial feedback from the state (and several media outlets) was that the sites were legit. Deeper investigations later showed that not to be true.

During Nick Shirley’s December 2025 investigation, he visited 10 daycare facilities across the Twin Cities. While state regulators initially defended all of them, a multi-agency federal sweep led by the FBI and Department of Homeland Security in late April and May 2026 resulted in massive raids and formal criminal indictments. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
The complete breakdown of the daycares featured in his video clarifies which have been explicitly tied to fraud, shutdowns, or the federal raids.

                            Formally Indicted and Proven Fraudulent
                            • Future Leaders Early Learning Center
                              • The Fraud: The absolute center of the criminal case. CEO Fahima Egeh Mahamud was federally indicted for wire fraud and conspiracy to defraud the United States. She falsified over 13,000 attendance claims to steal $4.6 million in Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) funds and another $850,000 from federal food programs. She was arrested at the airport while trying to flee to London. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Stripped of Licenses / Closed Under Investigation
                            • Quality Learning Centers (Misspelled "Quality Learing Centers")
                              • The Fraud: This center received roughly $1.9 million in CCAP funding. Shirley exposed it as a "ghost daycare" with no visible children. Following the public backlash and a state review revealing 121 compliance violations, the facility permanently surrendered its license. [1, 2, 3, 4]
                            • Tayo Daycare
                              • The Fraud: This site received $1.09 million in state CCAP funds. It was one of the centers immediately put under active fraud investigation by the state before being swept into the broader federal crackdown. [1, 2]
Swept in the Multi-Million Dollar Federal Raids

State and federal records confirm that 9 daycare providers featured in the video collectively received more than $67 million in public childcare subsidies over recent years. These sites were directly targeted in the coordinated federal raids where agents executed search warrants for billing the government for services never provided: [1, 2]
                            • Minnesota Child Care Center (Received $2.67 million in CCAP funds)
                            • Super Kids Daycare Center (Received $471,787 in CCAP funds)
                            • Children’s Academy (Swept into the multi-agency document seizures)
                            • Little Stars Daycare / Early Education (Targeted during the 22-business raid)
                            • Bright Beginnings Child Care (Records seized during federal property sweeps)
                            • Hope Early Learning Center (Account frozen and records seized) [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

                            Conflated Fraud Converted to Indictments

Initially, news outlets noted that several daycares on Shirley's list hadn't been charged with childcare fraud but had taken money from Feeding Our Future—the separate pandemic meal scam. However, by May 2026, the Department of Justice linked these exact networks together, handing down wide-ranging health, housing, and childcare fraud indictments against 15 key operators coordinating across these locations. I doubt I called it that so please post the receipts. The reason I doubt it is that I’m intimately familiar with one of the largest frauds of all time. I live in Houston and have worked with and for people that were at Enron, including senior level positions. The Somali fraud pales in comparison.
